a/n: so hey! this is kind of unexpected. I may as well just say this whole thing is ending for good since i'm not really invested in contributing to the EW fandom anymore, but i may as well upload some of my unfinished drafts/ideas/little snippets of ideas. think of it as behind the scenes stuff!

chapter 7 draft/beginning (unfinished):

Your fingers guided the polished metal buttons through the cloth as the rising sun reflected upon the mirror you were looking at. The white light slightly blinded you, but you tried not to mind as you picked up your nametag from the side of the sink. Your name was still clearly etched into the tag with any traces of blood completely scrubbed off. You slid the pin through your overcoat before latching it back into the clasp. You took a deep breath and ran your eyes over your body to check that everything was in place. It had been a while since you last wore the Red Army outfit, so seeing yourself like so was a bit disorienting. It didn't help that your head ached and your mouth tasted of acid since you got hammered the day before. At last, you strapped on your combat boots and made your way out of your room, the thuds from your shoes echoing in the empty base. You pushed the cafeteria doors in to see Edd and Tom patiently waiting at a lunch table on the left side of the room. They seemed to be quietly chattering only moments before, but the two hooded men instantly became quiet when the heavy doors slammed behind you.

"Hey," Tom casually greeted, briefly looking up from the papers outstretched before him before looking back down.

"Hi, is everything good?" Edd asked, his brown eyes making contact with yours.

"I mean, it could be better but given the circumstances..." you whined, rubbing your forehead a bit.

"It's not my fault you decided to go into my room and steal my shit," you could hear Tom grumble under his breath.

"It was some gooood shit though," you added. You could see Edd get annoyed almost immediately, so you decided to back off. "Sorry 'bout that though." Tom simply muttered something that this time, you couldn't catch. You seemed to have mollified him though, based on his shoulders lowering and his face starting to relax.

"We don't have time to fool around. You're leaving in thirty minutes or so," Edd reminded you as he somewhat anxiously checked his watch. Time was crucial since you had to get into the base unnoticed by the routinely guards or "garbage men" that checked the base's entrance every half hour. It wasn't exactly a glorious job, but it was a great way to get extra cash on the side while still working in the Red Army. Even with your outfit, your disappearance would be suspicious and you would have been immediately taken into questioning. You would be much better off directly confronting Tord about your "captive situation" rather than going through stretched-out interrogations from other comrades.

part of chapter 6 draft 1:

Your arms burned as you swung onto the next rung, your head covered in a thin layer of sweat. As your fingers curled around the metal pole, you glanced down. That quickly proved to be a mistake. You could see Edd and Tom waiting below you as your feet dangled, but they were tiny. Sure, there was padding if you fell, but that didn't stop your heart from racing. You took a deep breath and looked back up before moving on to the next rung. You could feel your arms and fingers giving way, but you did your best to continue on the monkey bars. Despite carrying the same name and purpose, the bars you were swinging from now felt nothing like the brightly colored ones you used to power through in elementary school. The metal bars parallel on each side of you were rusted and small cracks from the tall roof above allowed small droplets of rain down, making it even more difficult to stay up. The height and length of the monkey bars wasn't something to be desired as well. You let out a short exhale of relief out as you reached the final rung. You swung yourself onto the pole at the end and you quickly slid down, excited to finally be done with the damn course. As you reached the bottom, you held on tighter to slow down, the friction between your sweaty hands and the pole causing your skin to slightly burn. You felt your feet make contact with the concrete beneath you as Edd and Tom walked up to you. Their faces held stupidly large grins.
