This room was similar to Joelle's, but the painting showed a girl in a brilliant blue dress. The blue Poe floats through the wall and bounces up and down. "Thank for coming to release us!"
"Um, what was your name, again?" I ask, trying not to sound rude. "And, do you know any more than the red one?"
"I am Beth," the poe says. "But I do not remember much from our lives. I remember a dark figure controlling us with dark magic."
"Yes, your sister mentioned that. But I meant about the thing that will help me with the guards?" I press.
"It is a weapon," Beth says.
"Yes, yes, I figured that," I respond with a nod, my patience slipping.
"It is kept in a chest. Please release me from my curse!" she says, like her sister did, before disappearing back into the painting. I groan in frustration before heading toward the door to the next room. The battle was like with her red sister. Pretty quick and easy. Afterwards, the black fades to show the girl in the blue dress and her ghost walks through and smiles at me.
"Thank you Miira," Beth says.
"Yes, you're freed from the curse and of course I'll help your sisters," I say in a rush. "But do you know where the chest is that holds the fancy weapon that I can use against the guards?"
Beth simply smiles at me and raises her arms as she fades away and her picture burns behind her. I really should just give up on asking questions. I grumble to myself as I trudge through the doorway to the next room. It was another small one, but it had a giant chest in the middle. I perk up. Maybe it was in this one? I run over to it and push the lid open. And pull out a blue circular thing with a red and white diamond in it. "What is this?" I ask out loud. I shrug. Maybe it's the weapon. Maybe it's a bomb? That would work.
The next doorway leads back into the hallway. I step through it, still examining my find. A roar makes me jump and I spin to see the guard in the hallway charging towards me. I glance at the thing in my hand and then back at the guard before throwing the blue thing. It smacks him in the head. He stops for a second, his red eyes blank in confusion as he looks around. Then he spots me and charges again.
"Oh, goddess," I grumble as I turn and dash down the hallway. A door is at the end and I run into it, turning the knob and trying to force it open as the guard closes the distance between us. The door is locked. Chains cross it diagonally and a padlock sits in the middle. I shake it, trying to pull it off.
With another roar, the guard slams into me, crushing me against the door. My armbands vibrate. He backs up and slams into me again. I'm barely standing, leaning against the door and desperately trying to make the door open. I'm trapped. My armbands are constantly vibrating in warning. I can't take another hit. A roar and a second of fast, heavy footsteps and I'm smashed against the door again. My vision goes black and I fall to the ground. I vaguely hear the guard grunt in satisfaction before slowly turning and walking away.
So this is where I end. Aren't I supposed to be seeing something? Like, a light in the distance or something? There it is. It's a faint pink glow. I hadn't expected it to be pink. And it has sparkles around it. A whizzing sound fills my ears. The light flashes through me and the sound becomes a buzzing through my body. My eyes snap open and I gasp a deep breath in. I feel great. I jump up and glare down the hallway at the retreating back of the guard. It might be the leftover pink light, but I think I see red. I sprint towards the beast, drawing my scimitars and jump attacking it. I don't stop as it drops to its knee with a roar. Before I can pull myself together again, it's exploded into a colorful shower. I'm breathing heavy as I stare down at the puddle of rupees.
More sparkles flash in the corner of my eye, drawing my attention to the far side of the hallway. A small chest is sitting there. Had it always been there? I don't remember seeing it earlier, but I guess I was distracted by the giant guard trying to kill me. I shrug and jog down the hallway to the chest and kick it open. A small key jumps up at me and I fumble trying to catch it, but I finally get a hold of it. "Why would anyone lock a door and then leave the key in a chest on the other side of the hallway?" I mutter as I jog back down the hall to the locked doorway.
