2.
Anushka hadn't seen eyes so intriguing in a while. Eyes that contained a storm. Eyes that could destroy someone with just one look.
In that moment, the sun shone to it's brightest and the warmth of it spread across his face. Or maybe it was just her perception. She saw him in a different light.
She was attracted to him already.
And she hadn't even heard his voice.
The man had a slight thick beard, his face sculptured into perfection. He was attractive but his eyes took him to another level.
She looked at her dad who had introduced her to the man, or rather the couple.
"Virat is the owner of Kohli Incorporations, you know what that is, Yes?" Her father asked.
Anushka nodded numbly.
"Yeah, ofcourse. Hello." She let out a breathy greeting flustered already. If anyone noticed her reaction, nobody said it out loud.
She finally offered her hand. Virat took it in his and firmly shook it.
She didn't know why she felt like she couldn't breathe right. A man like him was intimidating enough, she didn't think it would cause her to react like this though.
She reminded herself of the woman standing next to him. His wife. He had a wife. A wife.
Anushka knew she was too late but still offered her hand to the woman in light pink saree.
The woman however pulled her close and air kissed both her cheeks.
"Sonam." She told her name.
"Anushka." She said back.
Her father looked at the couple again.
"Anushka studied business at NYU. I called her back for the last semester here, I wanted her to have an experience about this world instead of what they write in those books."
He told Virat.
Virat nodded completely interested in the details.
"So have you been working anywhere then?" Virat directed his question at Anushka. She shook her head.
"Not right now, I'm looking for an internship though." She lied. She didn't want to come across as a spoiled brat. Even though she was exactly that.
"I told her she could intern with my company but apparently we aren't cool enough."
Okay so her father was hell bent on embarrassing her and she was going to give him a mouthful because of it.
Why did he have to tell him everything? She just met him.
"Honey, weren't you telling me about some internship program at your company?" Sonam's voice rang out as she looked at Virat sweetly.
Realisation hit the man after his wife's thoughts were spoken out loud.
"Oh Yes, the program just finished yesterday but you're still welcome to work there."
The last thing Anushka wanted was to work. Why couldn't she just stay at home? Paint and shop? Surely she didn't need to work.
And an internship with the man she found attractive was the worst idea ever.
"I-" She was yet again interrupted by her father.
"Ofcourse, she will do it."
Anushka wanted to smack herself in the face. She shouldn't have came here.
It was a bad, bad idea.
"Why don't you come to my office tomorrow with your cv and we'll go from there." Virat suggested.
Anushka just nodded shakily.
"I'm gonna go get some fresh air."
With that excuse, she finally left and went back to the table that held her comfort level.
Aryan and Gautam sat on each side of Anushka as she sat on the table with half champagne glass.
"What happened?" Gautam asked looking at her flustered face.
"Did your father scold you for mixing itching powder in your step mum's make-up kit?" Sasha suddenly asked.
"What? No!" Anushka exclaimed.
"Oh, did he get to know that you leaked the rumours of her getting breast implants?" Sanaya questioned next.
Anushka shook her head.
Oh for God's sake.
"He made me meet the owner of Kohli Incorporations." She stated.
Sasha gasped.
"You mean Virat Kohli?" The Virat Kohli?" She asked again. Shock evident on her face.
Anushka merely nodded.
"Yeah, he asked me to intern at his company and before I could say anything dad agreed to it. I have to go to his office tomorrow."
She informed the group.
"Atleast one of us is going to do something." Gautam remarked.
Anushka scoffed.
"I don't know. I mean the man is too charming and intimidating for me. It's a bad idea." She told him.
"But here's the turn off yar. He's married. So no matter how charming he is, it doesn't matter." Sasha murmured.
"Exactly." The others agreed.
"Look Anu, you can actually learn something from him. You need to impress him, alright? Get that internship." Gautam firmly told her.
"I'm pretty sure I already got it because of dad." She responded.
"Madam, you got an interview because of your dad. Rumours are he refused the home minister's daughter because she wasn't capable enough."
Gautam informed her again."I hate this."
He sighed and leaned closer to her, pulling her towards him.
"This is the only chance you'll get to prove to your father you're capable of something." Gautam whispered in her ear knowing this was her utmost weakness.
Anushka finally nodded.
Getting that internship would mean doing something on her own and if she did her job well, maybe they would even hire her.
So who was she to not give her best shot? She had to stop acting like a little girl now. She had to do something.
She had to impress Virat Kohli.
