As the brunette walked away Evan could feel his heart beating rapidly. Connor Murphy was a highly attractive young man, with even a little a small light of personality that Evan saw from time to time. Connor had his space though, so Evan never wanted to disturb him.
He would sneak a few peaks at him in the back of the classroom and even have a peak at his art. Evan never had the courage to talk to him though; when he accidentally bumped into Connor you could imagine he was dying inside.
Connor could say he felt the same about Evan, but what if he got too close? What if he saw what Connor really was? What if he hated her? He was scared that if they got too close and he'd leave him. He wanted to stay away from Evan because he knew he'd end up hurt.
Evan didn't want to stop and give up, he decided he'd try to sit with Connor at lunch.
Around lunch time Connor usually sat a tree in the school yard. No one bothered him and no one came near him, so it was considered his safe spot at school. He didn't expect Evan to sit next to him moments later, and not even say a word.
Connor felt his box being broke slightly but he stayed. Evan Hansen was breaking Corrina's box.
"Hi--hi"
Connor looked up from the book he was reading and faced Evan, messing with the Hem of his shirt. Connor looked into his forest green eyes and his beautiful blonde hair.
Don't get too close...
"Hello."
"How are--how are um you?"
"I'm fine. You?"
"Also f-fine."
Connor could feel Evan staring at him.
Just leave me alone
"So uh um I'm sorry I bumped into-into you today."
"It's fine."
Connor messed with his sleeve and closed his book.
"Why are you sitting with me?"
"Oh-oh um I thought you you uh looked lonely? I'm sorry"
"I appreciate it, however I'm not lonely I'm just alone."
"How does um does that work?"
"Loneliness is just a mere unnecessary feeling, being alone it's just being by yourself."
"Oh."
"However, I will let you stay here."
You're getting too close, Connor.
Connor could hear a familiar voice shouting in his head as Evan repeatedly thanked him and stated random tree facts.
It was annoying, here he was listening to a cute boy go on about trees as a voice louder than his own interrupted him. He could just feel the tears poking at his eyes as he listened to every word in his own mind. He slowly heard Evan's voice fade leaving him alone with himself. Everything was so quiet, but yet so loud. He could hear movements, voices, screaming, crying. He couldn't tell if it were real or all in his head.
"Connor?"
It stopped when Evan's voice broke through again, giving him a moment of calmness.
"Are um you okay?"
Connor could feel tears rushing down his face, but he quickly wiped them away and gave Evan a smile as if telling him to continue talking.
Connor didn't hear the voice for awhile once he let Evan talk more. It was almost like Evan calmed him. How strange.
If you can't tell Connor had a panic attack kinda and it was kinda based on Hamilton's speech (in the musical) when dying. When he was repeating rise up you could tell he was getting fidgety and you could hear people rushing in the back like they're running but then he says Eliza and it goes completely quiet, and he calms down.
