The smell had been attacking Marks nose for the entire class day, the sweet smells were almost intoxicating to him. He had never experienced anything like it before, so of course all his guards were up, for all he knew this could be some kind of way for his enemies to lure him into a trap, or track him down.
Besides that, the day went pretty smoothly, he only had to stop students from talking a couple of times, hovering by their desks to make sure they weren't playing around. Ms. Lee told him he had down a great job for the day, and that she's looking forward to spending the rest of the year with him.
The rest of the year?
Mark thought about this as he was escorted home by one of Jaejins guards who, although being quite short, had an incredible build.
He thought about Ms. Lee's words, would he really be able to stay here? His mother's number one rule was to keep moving, that if he ever stopped for too long, or got comfortable he would be tracked down.
But it had been a long time since they were looking for them, and his mother was already dead, maybe they had finally stopped looking? All they ever really wanted was her, so why would they continue looking for some regular kid? He would have to think about it more, but Mark was sure that he would miss the sense of family that Jaejin gave him.
"We're here," his escort turned stopped suddenly causing Mark to collide with him. "The alpha got you some furniture, but none of it is assembled yet," he continued walking into the house, "you can wait in the living room while I assemble them." He began walking upstairs but Mark followed him, he looked back curiously at him.
"What? It's my stuff I should at least help." Mark said defensively, he just shrugged and continued forward towards Marks room.
Once they got in they were both unpacking boxes and struggling to assemble dressers and the bedframe. Mark looked up at the young man helping him, he was quite handsome and well built, his hair was blonde but his black roots were starting to grow.
"So, what's your name?" He asked, currently screwing pieces of dresser together. He looked up, at Mark, a hint of confusion on his face. "The name's Jackson, I'm one of the alphas right hand men." Mark nodded, "Well I'm m-" "Mark, yeah we know, we are assigned to protect you now." Mark quietly said 'oh' and continued to screw in screws, feeling awkward in the silence.
"Are you normally so...quiet?" He asked cautiously, not wanting to offend him. Jackson smiled a bit and chuckled quietly before looking back up at Mark, "Actually I'm normally quite the opposite, I can't shut up to save my life, I'll open up to you sooner or later so don't worry, in about a week or two you'll beg me to shut up" They laughed ,
"I don't know, a life of being alone makes you miss noise y'know? I don't think I'll ever get tired of the sound of other peoples voices, so don't be scared to talk around me." Mark smiled to Jackson who nodded and smiled back, and Mark was glad he had made a new friend, a luxury he could never afford was attained within a simple conversation.

It took almost 2 hours but they were finally done, Mark collapsed onto his new bed and groaned as he felt all the tension leave his body. Jackson chuckled as he did so Mark picking up his head and grinning at him. He sat up with a grunt.
"Well Jackson, it was a tiring journy, but we finally finished." He held out his hand for a high five that Jackson gladly accepted. Mark sat on the edge of his bed, looking around the room, simply thinking to himself.
"Mark?" He looked up to Jackson who stood in front of him. "I have no more duties for today, so if you don't mind we could maybe put your new TV to use and watch a movie or two?" Jackson put an exaggerated look on his face making Mark smile and nod, "Of course, let's watch something nice, your gonna have to put it on though, the only TVs I've ever used are cheap inn ones that don't work."
Jaclson laughed and nodded, heading downstairs to get a movie. Mark had learned that Jackson knew the place well, he lived there so of course he did, him and all of the alphas close men, they shared rooms but didn't mind.
