ForEver is Broken

Prologue

Being multiple states away from home while in college is something an adolescent dreams of. That time to finally get out from under your parents thumb and to have fun by making new friends, dating, partying, drinking, hooking up, and maybe even somewhat about learning something and getting that all powerful 'higher education'. Well that should be how newly aged adults feel about it. Wyatt certainly did. He couldn't wait to get away from his Marine fathers scrutiny and be far enough away to finally become himself. His twin sister Everleigh though couldn't have been more opposite. While they were inseparable, and well into their teen years would still sneak into each others beds and considered one another to be their best friend, their affections for each other was about the only thing that they had in common aside from their looks. Wyatt was outgoing to Everleigh's introverted ways. He enjoyed having lots of friends, she loved having a lot of books. He was loud and had no fear, she nearly always spoke in a whisper and was as timid as a mouse. But that is not to say she was a pushover. Everleigh was the only person able to control and calm Wyatt and had no problem raising her voice to him. They balanced each other out truly and could barely bare to be separated from one another a day so naturally they would attend the same school.

NYU was a far cry from Northern Virginia and the Quantico military base the twins were raised on. But in their own way both flourished. Wyatt had a city to explore that never slept and was as boisterous as he and Everleigh had libraries and museums to lose herself in and teachers with PhD's to finally challenge her brain. Majoring in Journalism and English literature with a focus on Shakespeare respectively, they had a decent amount of classes together and were happy to sit together and help one another. After suffering through their freshman year in dorms they soon found a very cheap, probably because it was a third floor walk up, tiny one bedroom apartment in China Town above what was soon to be their go to take away restaurant as another thing the twins had in common, both could burn water when trying to cook. They lived there year round as Everleigh took classes in the summer and neither one was too keen on rushing back to the base where their father resided. By the time Wyatt's senior year started Everleigh was starting her Masters program.

While Wyatt had made friends in New York, not all of them were from his University. Everleigh befriended really only her professors and T.A.'s and that was only on an acquaintance level. She was okay with this though as she had her brother and her books and never felt the need for any more than that. Blind to her own beauty she never noticed the looks passed her way as she was nearly always nose in a book or with Wyatt. He however did not miss these looks and had no problem warning people away from his twin. The summer before his senior year was when Wyatt began noticing some peculiar behavior from one of his friends he had made outside of school. He'd forever blame himself for not noticing it sooner.
