As the door shut behind her she ran. She didn't have a plan or a choice in her mind. She just ran and ran. Her legs throbbing, weakening with each step as the sun set behind her. Running like she was being chased. Even if no one was following her she didn't look back. No. That would slow her down too much. She bobbed and weaved throughout the trees and various plant life. Till she hit a dirt path and she collided with a small figure. Out of breath her eyes adjusted and she saw two little boys. One with bright yellow hair and golden eyes, the other with dark green hair and emerald eyes. Not that she could tell but she quickly composed herself.
"I apologize," she said slowly getting up. "You ok lady," asked Verde taking a step closer to her while Amarillo scrambled to his feet. "Uh yes I'm alright," said Kuroh taking a step back and calming her breaths. "Are you scared too," said Amarillo shaken up. "I'm just taken back...I... I need to get out of here," she said quickly turning but the twins grabbed her hands. "Noooo," said Verde on the verge of tears. "Brother said when the loud noise plays we have to go home," said Amarillo frantic. "Loud noises?" She asked confused almost collapsing due to exhaustion. The boys looked at each other than back at her scared. "The sirens," said Verde and she stopped.
They were right. The sirens were blaring and she couldn't tell. Their town must be under attack. Those sirens were a warning to hide!
"Go home," she snapped pulling her arms away. "Take us," they cried. "I can't," she said before trying to run only to have her feet give out on her. "Please lady please," They both cried and Kuroh sighed. "Ok," she said and they both almost as if on cue each helped her up. With her arms on their shoulders they helped her walk. The twins took her to their house just a short walk away from the lake.
They were very lucky not to be spotted. She guessed she was lucky. If she would have kept running they would have found her. She noticed all the houses had their blinds down, their lights off, and the streets were barren. "This alarm... if only getting louder seems the Noirs are coming quickly," she thought as they continued to race down the street.
They got behind, what she assumed to be their home, to a large stone hidden in the tall grass. "Under here," said Amarillo and Kuroh did her best to lift it up. It was a lot heavier than it looked. They climbed down the hole to reveal a small corridor. A ladder to get in and out was almost completely covered in pant roots. There were 3 doors. Kuroh got the rock just barley back to how it was. "This one," said Verde running to the center door. He opened it revealing a huge room with a wooden dining table, wooden chairs for 6, a fire pit, a large pile of blankets on a large futon, and a large bookshelf. Everything was dimly lit, dusty and a few cobwebs here and there. "Where is grandma," whispered Verde scared. We heard footsteps and an elderly couple rushed though the door. "There you are, we could find you in the house. We're so glad your here," said the women. She was quite short, about 4'8. She had pale greenish blue hair, pale skin, and clouded baby blue eyes. She was dressed in a plain solid white dress with a yellow shawl. The man next to her was about 6 foot. He had pale dark blue hair, greenish eyes, and tan skin. He was wearing brown slacks, a white shirt and a black vest. All tied together with a brown news cap. "Who is this with you," he asked. Kuroh debated on running, and she didn't dare to speak. "Don't be rude. Hello dearie glad everyone is safe," she smiled. "Welcome to our family shelter. My name is Trullo and this is my wife Turquesa," he smiled. She stared at them with blank, almost lightless eyes. "Is she a Noir," said Trullo slowly. "Can't be look at her eyes," whispered Turquesa. "She's nice! She helped us lift the rock!" Verde protested. "She's like is," said Amarillo. As they were talking Kuroh's legs gave out and she fell to her knees. "Poor girl," said Turquesa as she ran to her only to be horrified by what she saw when she got close to her. The cuts, burns and bruises on her thighs and upper arms. The bottom of her feet red and cut up from running none stop through the forest. "My dear are you in danger can we help you," the old women spoke softly and gently. Kuroh looked at her like she pitied her.
