Chapter 4

Present day

Two weeks till I turn 20 and graduate from college. Although I look 16, thanks to being half Kryptonian. At 20, I don't have to go on every mission that either Ra's or Lex tells me to go on. Which makes me excited because I'm sick of the villain life.

I'm so excited as I running and jumping from roof to roof that I don't realize Nightwing until I run into the back of him. The both of us are on the floor of the roof in a heartbeat. He gives off a groan as I start the repetitive 'I'm sorry'. I roll off of Nightwing and offer him my hand, "I'm so sorry Nightwing. I'm so excited I wasn't paying attention. I'm sorry." I tell him and all I see from him is a smile.

He gives off a sigh, "It's ok Cat. What has you all excited?" He smiles and he somewhat relaxes as he asks the question.

I get all excited and start hovering, "Well May 10th is coming up, and that's my birthday and I graduate on that same day." I smile and Nightwing smiles back.

It's two days till my birthday, and Dick and I are having a picnic. The two of us have been hanging out alot, but he recently got a girlfriend named Babs. "So I want you and Bruce at graduation. I'll even tell them to save you guys three seats for the new kid." I say before I take a sip of green tea.

Dick just smiles at me and nods his head. "I don't know. I'll tell Bruce but the new kid isn't very social." Dick says as he starts to play with the grass around the two of us.

I just nod my head and smirk. "Ok, but you'll come? You are my best friend. Well other than K.T. And Bruce is my family." I say with hope in my voice. It was just a month ago that Dick said he told Clark I was still alive. Since then I had been hoping dad would come see me, but he hasn't.

Seeing me start to become sad Dick smiles at me and says, "Yes Lyds, I'll be there for sure. Wouldn't miss my best friends graduation and birthday."

I just smile at his response, with that the two of us start to pack everything up and go our separate ways.

It's the day. Today is the day I turn 20 and the day I graduate from college. I woke up at 5 am to start my day. I shower, then put on my favorite green sparkly dress and green sparkly heels, next I do my make up. By the time I'm done with my morning routine it's 8am. Graduation is at 10am, so K.T. and I leave to head for the school.

K.T. and I walk to the stadium where graduation is going to be held. K.T. feels the excitement from me and she just smiles and rolls her eyes.

"Hey Kay, do you think Dick will actually be there?" I ask while nervously playing with the bottom of my dress.

K.T. rolls her eyes and responds, "He has never gone back on his promises to you before. So yes, I think he will be here."

I smile at her response and start walking faster, now with a spring in my step. K.T. just smiles and follows me.

It's almost time for me to walk across the stage and I still haven't seen Dick. The people in front of me keep ticking down. 20 people, 15 people 10 people. Then I see him. His seat is right at the end of the stage. I make eye contact to make sure he sees me.

Dick's eye widen as he waves at me and then he points to his temple.

I wave back and nod, realizing he had just told me to use telepathy to talk to him.

Hey Dick. So glad you and Bruce came.

Wouldn't miss this for the world Lydia. Oh I got you a birthday present.
