Y/n and Peter have been best friends for as long as they could remember. They both went to Xandar together so that says a lot. Y/n always had a little crush on Peter but felt like he just saw her as a sister he always wanted and nothing more. What y/n didn't know was that Peter loved her. He started with a silly crush but after living on his spaceship, Milano, he got to know the real her. He loved how she always goofed around and how her y/c/e would shine when talking about her favorite characters or when she laughed at the jokes Peter would say.
The saddest day for Peter was when y/n had gotten a boyfriend and moved out to go live with him. Peter's ship felt empty without her laugh or without her presence. He would try to go out and hang with his friends but he couldn't get y/n out of his head. When ever he would go to the bar he would sometimes see y/n laughing at something her boyfriend said. He would just finish the drink he had in hand and slam it down and get out as fast as he could from the bar and just go home. Y/n knew Peter would always be at the bar on Friday's and you would always try to go there on your own to talk to him but your boyfriend would never let you go on your own. You always would just take a little glance at him just to see him drink and have a sad look on his face. It broke your heart and you just wanted to go to him and hug him. One day your boyfriend had enough of you always looking at him and always wanting to go to the bar on Fridays. He found out you would go to the bar on Fridays only because when Peter wasn't there one Friday you turned around and told your boyfriend that you wanted to be home with him instead. He broke up with you and told you to leave his place. While you packed up and cried while doing it Peter was at his spaceship watching at pictures of you and drowning himself with alcohol. It's been months since y/n have called him, you didn't even try to visit him and he felt broken at the thought of you not loving him. Y/n had no place to go. She had no friends and the only friend you trusted the most was broken and sad. You had no choice but to go back to him and just hope he welcomes you back with open arms. On the way to Peters place you were crying because of course it hurt you that you got dumped but then you remembered your ex's voice about how you love Peter and you should just be with him instead of using another man to move one to. You loved Peter and all this time you thought you were just not happy to be with your ex. Getting to Peter you took at deep breath and hoped you didn't look horrible after all the crying you did. You took a deep breath and knocked on Peter's door. Peter got up from the couch he was sitting at and left the bottle of alcohol on the couch and made his way towards the door to see who was bother him at 10 at night.
"What do you w-" Peter stopped after seeing who it was. It was his love of his life in tears. You couldn't hold them in because how could you be so stupid and leave your best friend, the one you loved, behind? You went and hugged him as soon as he opened the door and just hung to him and cried on his shoulders. You felt his arms wrap around you and heard him try to calm you down.
"Hey it okay. You're okay. You are here with me now okay?" You couldn't be more happier by hearing those words. He actually welcomed you back. Peter moved back but had his arms still wrapped around you and just looks you in the eyes and looked at your face.
"What happened?" You just looked broken and looked like you were about to cry again.
"He dumped me because I love you." Peter stared at you with so much love. He didn't know if you meant as in "i love you best friend" or "i love you more than a friend."
"What?" Those weren't the words you expected and you just felt ashamed of yourself and jus felt so stupid. "No never mind just forget I said anything," you quickly said while trying to push yourself away from him but he just pulled you closer. "No I mean as in do you love me more than a friend?" You looked down but nodded. Peter felt a smile creep up on his face and raised your head up by the chin and looks sulu in the eyes while he smiled big.
"I love you too," he then leaned in and kissed you and you just wanted to thank your ex for breaking up with you and making you realize 'how could our love be so blind?'
