when love arrives, say
welcome, make yourself comfortable

college ended. jia graduated. best believe you could say that everyone jia loved was there for her graduation. her best friends, jimin and taehyung. her mom. sera was supporting her from backstage.

but not everyone she loved. her boyfrie — oh im sorry. her ex, wasnt there. it upsetted her, but what else could she do? they werent together, and youngmin was touring again.

after college, jia and sera decided to move in together in an apartment, since they're best friends. jimin and taehyung moved in in the apartment right next to theirs. they're neighbours now. who wouldve thought? friendship goals, right?

"okay so who wants to take a drink?" sera asks, pouring a shot of vodka in a glass shot and handing it over to taehyung. jimin shakes his head, he passed. so did jia. so only sera and taehyung was drinking. jimin didnt mind being sober.

jia sighs,  she lets the three be in the living room before going upstairs to unpack her stuffs. she looks around her room. it reminded her of the old times. it reminded her of her old room, back when she was still living with her parents, back when she was still in high school.

back when she was happy, with youngmin. but now, after years, she still has the people that she loves in her life, besides youngmin. she lost him. and at times like this when he randomly pops into her head, that's when jia would feel like she made a big mistake letting youngmin go.

with her hand on the door handle, she feels a tear running down her cheeks but she quickly wipes away. and as if on cue, she hears someone walking behind her. instead of turning behind, she stands there, frozen.

"you okay?" she hears the familiar voice coming from behind her. it was none other than her best friend, jimin. she nods, trying hard not to sniffle or make any noise which would make it seem like as if she has been crying.

she hears jimin sigh. come on, they've been friends since diapers, they know each other too well. do you really think jimin wouldve left jia all alone? instead, jimin walks towards jia and pulls her for a hug.

and with that, jia cries profusely into his embrace. "you miss him, dont you?" jimin asks her softly, she nods. then there was a moment of silence before she pulls away from jimin. "do you think i made the right choice?" jia questions her best friend, looking at him in the eye. jimin sighs, purses his lips and shrugs.

"i feel like you both were meant to be but somehow did it wrong, you know?" he softly chuckles, trying to lighten the mood. "there was no denying that the two of you were really most definitely in love but, if i were you, i'd let him go too," he continues.

"i know it's hard, he's your first love, jia. he was your first boyfriend, it lasted for about five years!" he adds on.

"it'll take time, moving on. but one day, you'll wake up, and you wont find yourself crying at the thought of him, trust me," jimin smiles, ruffling jia's hair which made her chuckle a little.

jia always loved it when people ruffle her hair. it makes her feel loved. that was why youngmin always did that to her.

"gUYS!" the two hear sera yelling from downstairs. they both run downstairs as soon possible. jia asks her what happened and sera groans at the fact that there was someone knocking on the door and that she was too drunk to open the door.

jia laughs, "oh come on, how many did the two of you already drink?" she groans, then walking to the door. "it's most probably our upstairs neighbour giving us a house warming gi—" jia opens the door, but she didnt finish her sentence.

because in fact, it wasnt the upstairs neighbours. it was im youngmin. jia's eyes widens, the grip on the door handle tightens, she froze in her tracks.

sera and taehyung both gasps in the background. "im youngmin?! best friend?! it's been so long!" taehyung slurs at the back waving his glass around. jimin tries to shut him up.

"hello, jia," youngmin nervously smiles. "do you remember me?" he asks.

those four words broke her heart, of course. of course she remembers. there was never a day that she didnt think of him. it hurts her so badly.

how long have they been apart for youngmin to ask her that? jia feels a tear almost running down her dried cheeks, she tries her best to hold it in.

but this time, it was harder. back then, she tried to hold it in from her best friend. but now, she's trying to hold it in from her ex boyfriend, someone that she once loved and still loves, the reason why she's crying.

"of course, i remember you," she smiles to herself. youngmin grins, a genuine smile falls upon his lips as he stares at his ex lover. which in fact, deep down, is still his lover. "i'm im youngmin," he introduces himself, jia raises her eyebrows in confusion.

"and i'm your upstairs neighbour," he ends his sentence, and he pulls out a bouquet of flowers. the kind of flowers that jia loved. daisies. it always reminded her of their first date together.

in that moment, jia burst into tears. "what do you mean?" she mutters softly beneath her breath. "c- can i come in?" he hesitantly asks, jia sheepishly laughs and welcomes him in.

"oh! sure! welcome, make yourself comfortable," she chuckles. "let's talk, in my room," she suggests, then bringing him up to her room.

once they were in her room, youngmin explains everything. "we took a break, i - i mean, the group, the boys and i, we took a break," he starts off, jia still confused.

"i realized i couldnt do it anymore. i love doing what i do now but every day i wake up, and then i realize that you're not in my life anymore, that's the worst part of my day, and i cant bear to live with that for the rest of my life," he adds on.

"so we're taking a break now. we'll continue practicing and promoting when the boys and i decide when the time is right," youngmin smiles. "call it a semi hiatus," he giggles, and suddenly, jia's heart felt warm.

"i love you, kim jia. i love you so much, i know you want to take things slow but please, please know that i'll always be with you. i'm always here. in fact, i live right on top of you. i will never leave you again," he begs her, intertwining their fingers together tight, he was most definitely crying.

"i lost you not only once, not twice, but several times and oh god that broke me into a million pieces," he continues. "oh god it's like im saying my wedding vows," he laughs to himself, wiping away his tears. jia, too, cries.

"i dont want to lose you again. so please, please trust me when i say this — i will never leave you again," youngmin whispers the last six words over and over again. without a reply, jia immediately pulls him in closer to her and she kisses him passionately. five years worth of kisses.

jia missed the way youngmin felt, she missed the way youngmin tasted, she missed youngmin. and youngmin missed her too. ah, true love. very hard to find, but, once it's found, it'll never die, will it?
