❝if love leaves, ask her to leave
the door open behind her.
turn off the music, listen to the quiet
whisper— ❞
—"i hate work!" donghyun barges into the house, throwing his briefcase onto the couch and untying his tie aggressively and then throwing it onto the couch as well.
jia and youngmin was having their moments on the couch, nothing like that. just watching netflix and having short little make out sessions in between advertisements.
it's been six months since the two have been neighbours. again, friendship goals, right? all of them are staying in the same apartment, all of them are each other's neighbours.
it has also been six months since jia and youngmin have been together. not together together, yet, but just seeing each other, just like they used to, just like old times, just like in high school. the days when youngmin would call jia's house phone and then her dad would pick up and he'll feel scared and timid.
"oh, you two are here," donghyun sighs, going into the kitchen, grabbing a pepsi out of the fridge. "have you asked her yet?" he questions youngmin. youngmin's eyes widened, jia soon became confused.
"are you hiding something from me?" jia folds her arm, raising her eyebrow over at youngmin. youngmin's mouth was left wide open. he couldnt hold it in any longer. "okay im sorry, i was supposed to say this when everyone is here but since donghyun has already said the wrong thing, now i have to say it so that you wont beat me up," youngmin sheepishly smiles.
youngmin stands up, pulling jia up too. he kisses her forehead gently once before getting down on one knee and pulling out a small black box which had a ring inside of it.
jia's eyes widened, she quickly covers her mouth with her trembling hands. her legs were jelly, she couldnt even stand properly.
"kim jia, it's been great catching up with you about everything that has happened to you in the last two years in just six months. and i'm willing to catch up about everything else with you in the future, for the rest of my life. you're the only girl in my life that i truly love and someone that i want to spend the rest of my life with. you know me too well, i feel like god has made us two meet for a reason, because he knew that we'd fall in love."
"we spent five years together and i loved every moment spent with you. i lost you for about two whole years and you dont wanna know how many times i replay that scene in my head every damn day, thinking to myself if anything wouldve changed if i didnt lash out on you that day."
"i love you, jia. i'm confused about everything in my life right now except you. so will you grow old with me and marry me?" youngmin was crying at the end of his speech and jia did too.
without hesitation, jia nods her head profusely and youngmin yells, jumping up and down, squealing in pure joy and happiness.
as if on cue, a bunch of teenagers, i mean, adults burst through the door, "whAT DID I MISS?!" they all scream in unison. "she said yes," donghyun breaks the news and everyone screams in joy again.
youngmin pulls jia into his embrace again, kissing her profusely again and again, never letting her go. "i gotta go, i need to talk to my mom," jia laughs, youngmin slides the ring onto her ring finger and kissing her once more before she leaves the room. the entire crowd followed her out of the house and down to her own apartment.
"leave the door open!" he yells at jia, who was squeezing her way through the crowd in his house. he sighs, plunging himself onto the couch, he smiles so hard like a fool to himself, he rests his head back onto the pillow.
in that moment, there was total silence in his house. he listens to the quiet, and he whispers to himself, thank you for stopping by.
