~Hey guys! I apologize for not updating in quite some time. I've made this chapter longer because of that :) Hope you like it!~
By the time I returned to the village, the day had turned to night. I sprint through the alleys as fast as I can so my thoughts would linger on the burning pain in my legs rather than the encounter I had not too long ago... Already spotting the house, I swiftly climb the tree and quietly attempt to enter the house without being heard. I see the sleeping figure and grin.
I'll just quickly and quietly return your...
But before I realize it, I'm grabbed and trapped in between my best friend and the bed.
"I've finally gotcha" announced James with a smirk.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, I was just-"
"No! Don't even say a word! You abandoned me!!! I had to come up with some excuse to your mother as to why you weren't with me. Why does this always happen to me when I'm with you?!" James exclaims.
I let out a sigh.
"I'm truly sorry James, I got distracted..." I begin to get up but his strong grip on my wrists keeps me down.
Raising an eyebrow, he says "What's your excuse this time?"
I'm not sure whether to tell him, but why not, he is my best friend of course.
"Well..." I say slowly, "I can't tell you this adventure of mine in our current predicament..."
Realizing how he was holding me hostage by straddling me and having an iron grip on my wrists, he locked eyes and his mischievous grin appears.
"Oh I like our current predicament..."
With a huff, "you little piece of-"
I laugh as I fight my way out of his hold and we begin to wrestle. One thing that I love about James is that he accepts who I am: a young lady who loves to get rough. I swipe his feet only for him to fall on his bum and finally wrestle my way on top.
*oof*
Now it was my time to smirk.
"I win!"
He groans, "again..."
Getting off of him, I jump onto his bed and begin.
"Ok ok. So I met some of the new natives..."
His head whips to face me, "YOU MET THEM?!"
Well I just hit one of his nerves...
While James wasn't as connected to the previous natives as I, he seeks justice, and with justice comes blood...
I walk over to him, "Now calm down...I saved a small boy and met some of his brothers. They were-"
Well I don't know about kind...
"They were respectful, let's just say that."
I give him my most convincing smile, "there's nothing to worry about James, father will create peace among us. Sometimes...we can't get justice for everything."
He looks down thoughtful and unconvinced.
"Well my friend, I must go."
Quickly giving him a peck, I run towards the window to lower myself down. Looking up from the alley, I wave my friend goodbye and run off back home...
THE NEXT DAY
I wake up sore from all the running I did yesterday. Wincing at the pain, I trudge down the stairs to the kitchen. As soon as I walk into the kitchen, my stomach grumbles reading my mind.
