I waited until lunch time to find out what was wrong with Riley. I spotted Lucas and Farkle. "Hey guys, come sit over here," I gestured. Immediately, they came over. "So where's Riley?" they asked. I looked around the lunchroom but Riley was no where to be found. "That's strange. She's usually the first one to be here," I said out loud. I got up hoping to look around and eventually find her. "Maya, where are you going?" Farkle asked. "I'm going to find Riley." "Good luck with that."

I went from table to table just in case to see if she decided to sit with another lunch group. Shit Matthews, where did you go? Well one thing is for sure. She isn't in this lunch room. I decided to head back and give up. As I was running back to the table I slipped on some pasta that was on the ground and bumped into a girl holding a lunch tray. Oh no! Her chocolate milk spilled all over me and her pasta with meatballs fell off of the tray and right onto my white blouse.

Everyone stared at me like I was some weird mutated crap. They couldn't get their eyes off of me. Some popular girls started to snicker. "YOU SHOULD WATCH WERE YOU'RE GOING," I heard the girl I bumped into yell. "I'm sorry. Accidents happen." "Ugh that's not good enough. You ruined my designer shoes!" she screamed. I had enough for one day so I decided to fire back. "Aw did I ruin your precious princess shoes that your daddy spoiled you with. Oh my god! How rude of me to bump into you even though I couldn't help it. Go cry to your daddy now."

She stared at me like I just shoved a meatball down her throat. "No one should ever dare talk to me like that. Do you even know who I am?" "Oh are you some popular snobby girl? because I have never heard of you!" After that she turned around and went back to her team of thots. People were still staring at me. "What are you looking at? Show is over!" After that I decided to go to the bathroom so I could clean off.

I looked at my shirt. it was completely stained with orange sauce. All of a sudden I heard a cry. It was coming from one of the stalls. It's probably one of those girls who got dumped by their boyfriend I thought at first. The cry sounded familiar. "Are you okay?" I asked. I heard absolute silence. I tried talking to her again. "It's fine," I heard the girl say. Her voice seemed to quiver. "Are you sure? You seem really upset." "Leave me alone!" I heard her yell. "Please, I was just trying to help." "I don't need your help Maya!"

I finally realized who it was. "Riley, what's wrong? Please talk to me." "You won't understand. Just go back to lunch." "Stop! I can't stand to see my best friend this way. We're more than best friends. We're like sisters, Riley. I need to know what's going on." At that moment Riley opened the stall. I could see she was eating lunch alone. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying.

"Please leave me alone, Maya. I don't want your help. I just came to eat lunch alone. I want peace." "You can't hide in there forever. You have to face the world, Riles." I don't want to go back there. I can't go back there!" she stammered. "Yes you can. I will be with you no matter what." Riley looked up at me. "Oh my gosh Maya what happened to your shirt?" "It's no big deal. Some bitch did this." "Oh no, does she hate you too? I'm sorry for being such an annoying little shit. I won't speak to you ever again if that's what you want. Everyone knows i'm worthless and stupid."

"Who are you talking about? Is someone bullying you? You have to know that I loved being your friend and you're not worthless. I don't want that to end. Don't ever think like that about yourself. If someone is bullying you, you have to tell someone. If you don't then I'll." "Ugh forget I mentioned it. It's nothing, really." "It is something, Riley. You wouldn't be eating lunch alone in a bathroom stall and crying your eyes out if it was nothing." "Why, is that a surprise? You got to stop judging me. I'm not that perfect friend you want. If you have a problem with me being sad then maybe we shouldn't ever be friends."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "What the hell? I wasn't judging you. I was just saying you must have a reason to be sad since you're not usually like this. As for being your friend, that I will always want to be. You're quirky and funny. Everyone loves you." "HA what a lie! If you were my true friend you wouldn't lie and act like you feel sorry for me." "What? That's not true! I was just trying to make you feel better." "See, you even admit it yourself. You're not even my friend. I bet you're a fake and a bully just like everyone else. She probably put you up to this."

I couldn't listen to this any longer. Riley thought I was judging her and being a fake when really I was just trying to help her. Then she goes and calls me a bad friend. How was I being a bad friend? I was doing everything a good friend should and if she couldn't appreciate that then she was being the bitch here. "Look, Riles. I was just trying to help. I was being a good friend but it looks like you want to be alone. You used to be so nice and we told each other everything. I don't know what the hell happened to you but i'm not liking it. I don't care if i'm sounding like your dad right now but you really need to tell someone about this. Hopefully they will be a better friend than I ever was. I hope you meet someone who makes you happy because I honestly don't know what to do anymore. You're not my friend. This is not the Riley I know. The Riley I know would never yell at her friends. The Riley I know would never call them fake and think they were judging them. I hope the old Riley I know will come back someday and until then goodbye."

It felt so good to get that out. I've been wanting to say that and I finally did. Hopefully Riley would  change her ways and understand her nasty behavior. Sadly, I was wrong.
