Amelia

Here I was. At the end of the day. In detention.

I got here 5 minutes early, so I could guarantee a seat in the back. This was only the third time this year that I had detention, surprisingly.

I got here because I fell asleep in class. Yeah I know, lame. But it's not my fault that William Shakespeare is boring. Seriously, who wants to read poems and books about love? Yuck.

I dropped my black backpack on the floor next to the desk, and sat down. I kicked my feet up onto the desk, earning a glare from the teacher. Mr. Gille volunteered to chaperone us for today. I have no idea why. It's weird for a teacher to want to spend an extra hour with these students. Especially the delinquents.

Just as I was about to take out my earbuds, and newly bought IPod (thanks to Kyle's money), he walked in.

"Nice of you to join us, Brady." Mr Gille snarls. Damn. Mr Gille is definitely not a fan of Brady.

Hey, we have something in common.

But what I didn't understand is why the heck Brady would be in detention? He's not the type of person that I would picture getting detention.

"It's a pleasure to be here, sir." Brady mumbles, turning around. He faces me. If I'm being honest, his grey eyes look really attractive under the sunlight that is shooting in through the window. Shit. Stop thinking like this, Amelia. I thought.

Surprisingly, he takes a few deep breaths before approaching me. Probably scared of me like the rest of the wimps are. When you dress up in black everyday, I guess it gives you a reputation. Sadly, Kyle isn't intimidated by my looks like everyone else is.

I remember this one time this kid accidentally bumped into me and crashed on the floor. All I had to do was shoot him a glare, and he quickly scrambles to his feet and ran off. Haha, that was pretty funny.

The screeching of a chair to my right, brought me back to the present. Brady just sat next to me. Act natural. He totally doesn't make your heart beat a million times faster.

"Hello." He says, in a whisper. Probably so the teacher wouldn't hear him.

I decide not to answer because a) I don't want to get another detention and b) I don't want to talk to him. I never talk to anyone, unless they confront me like Kyle did yesterday.

"Good talk." He says. He stays still for about four minutes, until he looks at me again.

Instead of waiting for him to say something to me, I take out my right earbud and say, "Do you need anything?" I try to sound annoyed so he would back off. Which is true. I am kind of annoyed. I don't like human interaction, at all.

"I forgot what I was going to say." He said. And with that, he sits normally again, facing the front of the room. I glance over to look at him, and it's obvious that irritation is written all over his face. But I don't care.

For 25 minutes, we sat in silence. Until Mr. Gille got up and said, "I have to use the restroom. I will be back shortly." Before he exits the room, he glared at Brady. I don't know what his problem is, but it's sort of amusing. He walks out, leaving me, Brady, and two other weirdos that are sitting in the front.

The two weirdos start talking about this video game they played last night. Loudly.

"Hey you guys, can you like shut the fuck up?" I half yell, to get their attention. I don't usually curse, well maybe in my head, but besides that, I usually don't curse out loud. Brady seems a little taken back by my sudden outburst, but he remains calm.
