(A/N: Sorry, everyone. I missed two weeks, I know, but my mom was in the hospital. I'm trying, honestly. I just couldn't really think during that time.)

THOMAS'S POV

I'm exhausted by the time the Runners and I return from the Maze. That shuckin' Newt. I can imagine him laughing his face off when he sees me.

"Hey, Thomas! Where's your head gone?" One of the Runners call to me and I turn my attention to them. I hadn't realised that I had begun to walk back towards the Maze. I walk towards him.

"Oh, sorry. I'm just..thinking." I say. That seems to be my excuse for a lot of things lately. "I'm fine."

The other just looks at me funny and heads back to the map room. I take a breath and follow him in, forcing myself to wake up. The memory of my section is starting to fade, and that's never good.

I begin on my map. It wasn't as difficult to remember as I thought it would, and I'm almost finished in a matter of minutes. That's when Newt rushes in, once again, with a worried look on his face. He looks about as tired as I am.

"Newt. What're you doing here?"  I ask, casually.

Newt runs over, closer to me, and whispers. "It's Minho, for real this time. I can't find him anywhere." He sounds genuinely worried and that's beginning to make me feel uncomfortable.

"Well, he has to be around here somewhere. It's not like he just disappeared into thin air."

"No, Tommy, it isn't like that." he says in a quiet voice that wasn't quite a whisper. It was actually a bit sexy. "Someone said they had seen him go into the Maze."

The Maze? I think, none of this making sense. "Why would Minho enter the Maze? He doesn't even need to!"

"That's exactly the reason I'm asking for your help. I was wondering if you could go in after him and bring him out." Newt sounds a bit frustrated and he starts fiddling with the bottom of his shirt.

"I don't know. The Gates will be closing soon, and we're not even sure that Minho will be in there." I want to help Minho, of course, but I don't think this is the safest time to do it.

"Please, Thomas." Newt begs, looking straight into my eyes. I kind of feel my body melt and I enjoy it.

"I'll see if I can do it. But I'll need proof that Minho's in there." I propose. A lot of proof.

"I don't have proof. I just need you to work on luck right now." Newt says this and looks up at the other Runners making their maps. "I need to take the Greenie for a second.

Before I can object, Newt is pulling me out of the room. "Are you sure this isn't another one of your schemes to get me alone with you?" I ask.

"Unfortunately, no." he keeps looking straight ahead, not bothering a glance at me. "You're the fastest we've got and you remember the paths better than anyone. As much as I hate to send you out there, you're the only hope I have of getting my friend back." Now, he looks at me and gives a crooked smile.

This guy.. He thinks I'll just drop everything and help him, just because his smile is adorable?  "Alright. I'll find him, don't worry." I'm pathetic.

I catch a glimpse of the Maze and see a flash of movement. For a moment, I think it's a Griever, but it's too early for them to be out. Then its features are more in view and I realize...it's Minho. Minho sees Newt and I, and his face turns into something like a glare. He turns and runs deeper into the Maze.

That's when I hear the all-too familiar rumble of the Gates beginning to close.
