Richie let out a breath as his blood soaked into the coarse carpet beneath him, his heart rattling in his chest.
It's okay
A sob escaped him as another blow to his stomach cracked something in his chest. He felt as though he couldn't breath for a moment and began to panic.
You'll be okay
Richie wasn't sure when the hitting stopped but the pain never did. The burning in his lungs, the stabbing into his skin. That didn't stop with the tears. His parents, never loving and always hurtful, they wouldn't stop either. He knew it. Despite everything he tried, his parents would never see him as anyone but a punching bag to take their anger out on.

You can come talk to me whenever you need to.

His eyes wandered to the Polaroid photo on his dresser of Eddie and him sitting on the side of the quarry. He felt himself break into motion without even trying, his feet carrying him through his window and down the road. His mind was blank. All he knew was that he needed to see Eddie.
Eddie.
Eddie.

It usually took him about ten minutes to get to Eddies house but with his newly found limp it took twenty. He had tried so hard to get there sooner but with every other moment a wave of pain went through him and he could barely feel himself collapse to the ground. He had no clue how he was able to hear the exclamation of his friend or feel the tiny arms wrap around his body.

Eddie quickly pulled him up and took him inside, setting him on the couch as softly as he could. Richie was breathing hard from the walk and the pain in his side that didn't seem to go away no matter how hard he tried.

"Oh, god, Richie, what the hell did you do!?" The terrified boy yelled out as tears streamed down his pale face. Richie felt his eyelids get heavier and heavier but he was nearly crying out in his mind for him to stay awake. To make Eddie happy and to wipe his tears away so he could just see his precious hypochondriac smile.

Before Richie even noticed, he passed out with Eddie scrambling to figure out how to fix him. How to wake him up. How to make him healthy again.

Richie woke up to soft sobs and two smaller hands latched to his own. He felt like someone had hit him with a truck so that really wasn't the first thing he noticed.

"Holy Fuck, ow" He whispered and a loud gasp came from the smaller boy. Eddie practically tackled Richie which was not good for the broken rib.

"Ah! Eds, nope, stop" he said and weakly tried to push his best friend off of him.

"S-Sorry...I'm sorry" Eddies tiny voice whispered out before he sniffled, jumping away from the other so he didn't hurt him anymore. The two stayed in a silence for a bit before Richie turned to look at the sniffling Eddie. He scooted over in the bed and pat the place beside him. He looked over his arm that was spotted with a few neon colored band aids...He smiled. Eddie slipped into the spot next to him and cuddled close.

"You alright, Eds?" Richie asked, his voice small and soft, the two things that Trashmouth Richie Tozier was not. Eddie nodded a bit before silence filled the room and he shook his head instead.

"I was scared...T-That you wouldn't wake up" He whispered with a little sniffle and Richie moved his hand to gently run through the others hair as he let out tiny sobs into his side. It broke Richies heart to see the other crying like that. It felt like another addition to the list of his ailments.

"I haven't annoyed you enough, I had to wake up" He said softly and Eddie let out a choked laugh. Of course Richie was trying to take care of his friend before himself, it's just who he was.

"I don't know what I'd do without you, Richie" Eddie whispered after a few moments of soft silence. The silence is what gave him that moment to pump himself up to say something like that. He wouldn't on any other occasion but he felt like Richie needed to hear it.

Richie felt his eyes well with tears. At least Eddie cared... He would rather die than have Eddie hate him. Eddie was what drove him to do things, what made him want to wake up in the morning...

He was glad Eddie felt the same.

"I don't know what I'd do without you either, Eds"
