I take a few minutes to recollect myself before heading downstairs to my dad. Harry left me flustered, and I'm a bit disappointed that our moment was interrupted. What am I saying?

When I calm down, I hurry down the stairs. I was so worried about my dad, and I'm so glad he made it home safely. When I get to the bottom of my steps, he and my mom are talking quietly by the kitchen door. I pause at the bottom step, but it's too late. They've heard me. They both turn and look at me before my dad smiles and hurries over to where I am.

"There's the birthday girl!" He exclaims, picking my small body up off the bottom step before swirling us around in a circle. He gently sets me down as I laugh and look at the floor.

"Where were you?" I ask quietly. "I was worried." He shakes his head. "Boss wouldn't let me leave as early as I would like, and traffic was a mess. No worries," he smiles. I shake my head. "Why didn't you call?" I can't help but sound whiny. He laughs. "Phone died," he takes the device out of his pocket, pressing the button over and over again to prove that it won't turn on. I sigh and nod. He hugs me once more. "Don't worry about me."

He and mom sit down at the table while he eats his dinner. I slowly head back up to my room, secretly hoping Harry will appear and want to finish what we had started. I'm left disappointed though, because I'm left with an empty room. I sigh, and grab some pajamas before heading into the bathroom to take a shower.

I turn the hot water on full blast because of how cold it is. I scrub myself, sad that Harry's touch is being washed from my body.

In a way, I'm disappointed with myself for kissing Harry. I realize that it was a bit weird that I was making out with someone who wasn't living. I shiver. It's so weird to be thinking such things. It's hard to believe that Harry is dead, other than his ability to appear and disappear into thin air, and the fact that he's ice cold.

When I step out of the shower, I'm about to rub the steam off the mirror when I notice something written on the mirror in the steam.

'Happy Birthday' it read, in neat block letters. I can't help but give a small smile. Harry. It had to have been. My hand flies up to the necklace around my neck that I didn't take off before I hopped in the shower.

I never minded Harry's presence, I was so used to it. And he rarely said anything to me, anyway. From here out, though, I can tell that I'll be enjoying his presence.

I don't know how I feel. It's a good feeling. Something changed in me tonight, for the better. Maybe it was because I found out some things about Harry. Maybe it was because of the kiss we shared. Whatever it was, I'm thankful for it.

After my shower, I put on my clothes and head downstairs to spend the remainder of my birthday with my parents. I sit between them on the couch, watching The Middle on one of the local channels. We all laugh together. Although I don't usually spend so much time and talk as much to them as I have today, I feel obligated to because it's my birthday.

Suddenly, a bar flashes across the bottom of the screen, alerting us of the weather. Also, it says that the schools in our city would be out of school tomorrow. I'm relieved, glad to be able to huddle up in my room tomorrow. And maybe see Harry??
