Songs of the Chapter:

None bc this is kind of a "explain what's gonna happen" kinda chapter. So yeah.

Friday is here before I know it, and I'm nervous the second I wake up. Tonight is my "date" with Storm, and I'm not too sure how it's going to go. What Harry told me the other night about going still plays through my mind like a broken record, but he can't predict the future. I bet Storm will show up, and the two of us will have a great time.

For some reason, I feel a little odd, going on a date with Storm, instead of Harry. Harry and I have shared kisses, and he's been holding me in my sleep a lot lately. It almost feels like we're in a relationship. But we're not. Harry is dead, his heart isn't beating, while mine is pumping blood through my system, very much alive. There's no way we could ever be together in that way. Also, Harry is technically 19 years older than me, which is a bit freaky, to say the least. No, a relationship with Harry would never happen.

I haven't seen Storm since Monday, which does kind of worry me. If I don't see him today, to clarify our plans for tonight, I'm not going to go. I can't go. I don't even know where to go at what time or any of the details about tonight. What if he's forgotten?

I step onto the old, creaky bus and make my way to my seat in the very back. I almost jump out of my skins to see Storm, in the flesh, sitting at my spot near the window. He smiles brightly up at me and pats the empty space next to him, telling me to sit down. I'm not at all happy about taking the aisle seat, but whatever.

"How've you been, Madelynn?" He asks me, his perfect teeth giving me a dazzling white smile. I nod. "I've been alright. How about you?" I decide to be somewhat polite for once.

We make small talk for a few minutes, before he mentions our date. "Are you ready for tonight?" He asks me, smiling again. When does he ever stop smiling? I bet he smiles in his sleep. I nod. "Yeah. Where are we going?" I ask, wanting to get the details down before we get to school and he gets separated from me. He clears his throat. "I was thinking we could go to that restaurant down by the river. Near that old bridge, you know?"

I gulp, and slowly look over to make eye contact with him. I knew exactly what he was talking about. It was the new restaurant that had recently been built by the bridge I almost jumped off of four years ago, ending my life. I hadn't been near the old bridge since, and I didn't exactly want to. It brought back painful memories. I shake my head, clearing my throats.

"Yeah. I know what you're talking about. What time do you want to meet?" I ask. Gotta have those details. He ponders over this for a moment, humming to himself. "How's eight?" I nod, wondering why he would want to go so late. It'll be dark. Oh well.

Before we know it, we're at school, getting off the bus and heading to our first classes. I head into chemistry, taking a seat in my normal spot in the back. Mr. Prince soon begins teaching, droning on and on about valence electrons and the rule of octet. I soon block the sound of his nasal voice and think back to mine and Storm's conversation on the bus.

Why would he want to go to the restaurant by the old bridge? Nobody goes there, because it's a family owned business, and nobody takes the road with the bridge to get there because of the bypass. It'll be awfully lonely and quiet, and I hope it's not awkward. Even though Storm will probably show up, Harry's comment continues to sound through my head. What if he doesn't show up? What will I do then?

I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Mr. Prince's annoying voice. "Madelynn, can you answer my question please?" He looks at me expectantly. I shift in my seat to where I'm sitting straight up, glancing around to find everyone staring at me. "Come again?" I ask him, raising my brows. He clears his throat. "I asked if you could answer my question." I roll my eyes. What a dumb ass. "Yes, I know, but what was the question?" He sighs, angry at me for wasting his teaching time. "I asked which group of elements were the least reactive." I gulp, thinking back to his previous teachings from the day before. "Umm, Halogens?" I ask, hoping I am correct. He shakes his head. "They're the most reactive. Class, the least reactive group of elements is Group 18, also known as the Noble Gases...." I block him out again, watching the rain pound the windows.

The snow eventually turned into freezing rain, melting everything that had already fallen. The roads were a bit slippery now, but not enough to cancel school, sadly. I hope it stopped by tonight, because I was planning on walking to the restaurant. It's only about a ten minute walk from my house.

The bell rings, interrupting my thoughts. I grab my bag and rush out of the classroom, before Mr. Prince can say anything to me about me not paying attention.

I wonder how Madelynn will do, walking past the bridge later that night? Hmmm? Will Storm show up?

Pssssst something big happens in the next chapter.

But you won't know what happens unless you vote.
