Birthday

*Levi's POV*

"Eren." Levi had said. "I expect to see you in my office this afternoon after lunch break."

Eren had complied, nodding eagerly with an anxious expression. Now lunch is already over and Levi can't help but feel excited. As he walks to his office, he tries to keep a level head.

He opens his office door and lets out a breath in time to the squeak of the door. He peers in and Eren is not in sight. Levi furrows his brows and closes the door behind him. As he walks toward his desk, he mutters under his breath. "Stupid brat."

The growl of a stomach causes him to turn on his heels. He spots Eren sound asleep on the couch.

WHO GAVE HIM PERMISSION TO SLEEP ON MY COUCH???

Despite his irritability, Levi can't help but feel relieved that Eren is there. He walks toward Eren and another growl sounds from Eren's stomach.

Did he not eat? So he's been waiting all this time?? Great, now I feel bad!

Levi sighs and slips off his jacket, laying it over Eren as a blanket. Might as well let him rest.

"Idiot." he whispers as he leans over Eren, planting a light kiss on his forehead, careful not to disturb him.

Then he heads to his desk, feeling the obvious heat in his face. He smacks his forehead and gets to his work, allowing Eren a good nap.

A good couple of hours of peace and quiet later, Eren jolts up from the couch.

"HYAAAA!! WHAT TIME IS IT?? HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN ASLEEP??" Eren yells, nearly falling face-first on the floor. He then looks at himself, noticing the jacket laying over him. A look of confusion crosses his face as he looks back and forth between the jacket and Levi.

Levi rests his head on his hand. "Eren, calm down."

Eren turns a deep red. "Ah, sorry..." He turns to gaze back down at Levi's jacket.

"It's fine." Levi waves it off and goes to take a drink of his tea. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Eren clutch the jacket close to his chest, a sly smile forming on his lips.

"Awwww, it's Levi's jacket! So small~" he teases.

Levi turns pink and puts his cup of tea down with extra force. "Shut up, you idiot! Unless you want to lose your limbs." He glares at Eren.

Eren chuckles and makes a heart-shape with his hands, giving Levi a 'you know you love me' look. Levi rolls his eyes, trying to hide his embarassment.

"I'm gonna go get some documents. Stay here, Jaeger." Levi stands up from his desk and heads out the door.

To be honest, Levi didn't even have a real reason to leave the room. It was the first thing he could think of to stop him from losing his head. Besides, he could use a short walk around.

As he saunters the halls, he runs into Hanji... literally. She came crashing down the hall and bumped him aside.

"Oi, watch it!!" Levi said with a scowl on his face.

Hanji gave a meek chuckle. "Ah, sorry! I'm in a hurry to help set up the dinner!"

"Dinner?" Levi questioned. No one had informed him of this.

"Yeah," Hanji replied, pushing up her glasses. "For Eren's birthday!!"

HUHHHHH??!???! IT'S EREN'S BIRTHDAY??? WHY DIDN'T HE TELL ME?!?!?!?

Without another word, Levi turned sharply on his heels and headed back to his office.

"Wait, what's wrong?" Hanji called after him.

"Shut up." Levi said back as he quickened his pace.

When he reached his office, he opened the door so fast, Eren literally jumped in his seat.

"Oi, brat!" Levi shouted, his irritation showing on his face. "Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday?!?"

Eren looks down at his lap, blushing. "I'm sorry." he says, embarassed. "I didn't know you would get worked up about it."

Levi scoffs. "Of course I'm upset at you, how could I not when my lover didn't even tell me his own birthday!!" Levi can't stop the words from escaping his mouth. He can't believe what he just said.

"L...lover?" Eren blushes, putting his hand over his mouth.

Levi is as shocked as Eren is about his words.

Levi goes pink. "I... uh..."

Cutting Levi off, Eren quickly closes the gap between them in a sweet embrace.

Eren mumbles into Levi's hair with a loving voice. "I'm happy."

Without letting Eren see, Levi grins. "You idiot," Levi says, unable to contain his happiness. "I didnt even get you anything for your birthday."

Eren brushes away the comment and stares straight into Levi's eyes. "You don't need to." He leans into Levi's ear and whispers, "All I'll ever need is you."

Levi's blush deepens.

THIS GUY!!!! SO HE THINKS HE CAN GET ALL THE CREDIT AND EMBARASS ME LIKE THIS??? I'LL SHOW HIM!!

Refusing to be "defeated" like this, an idea is brought into Levi's head.

Heh. Maybe I DO have a birthday gift after all...

Without thinking twice about it, Levi grabs Eren's chin and pulls it towards him. Eren widens his eyes in suprise and Levi slowly closes the space between their lips in a gentle kiss.

Levi pulls his lips away- too soon, he feels- and looks right into Eren's eyes. Both of their faces are flushed. With a discrete smile and in a low tone Levi mutters, "Happy Birthday, brat."
