Song-- How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty
Nox stood still, his usually bright emerald eyes, dark in concentration. He was trying to pinpoint Edmond's exact location. It was not helping his cause that, Nyx was laying across a log clad in skin tight leather. She was sharpening her many knives.
She was distracting, and she wasn't even trying. She was having fun making her daggers dance in the air. Their sharpened points and edges glinting in the ever fading glow of the sun. Her long black hair was tied up into a tight braid today, as to keep it from getting in her way. Her amethyst eyes found his emerald ones and she smirked.
"Like what you see Diaor?" She asked as she stood. Her daggers found their places in their sheaths. She sidled up to him, placing her perfect hands on his shoulders, relieving the tension instantly. It still amazed him that this beautiful, deadly creature loved him and naturally, not because of a spell or charm or potion of any kind. Onyx Hawthrone loved him, on her own free will.
"I love you ki'cattra." Nox whispered into her hair as they embraced. Nyx stiffened, sensing the hidden goodbye in his words. Her unique jewel eyes found his, searching for answers. Not finding an answer she desired she pulled back slightly.
"Why does it feel as if you are saying your final goodbye, ki'Diaor?"
"I'm not saying goodbye, love. Just saying I love you to the most beautiful woman in Ascardia because she amazingly loves me the same."
Nox stiffened, his arms forming vice like grips around Nyx's small waist. Nyx turned in the direction his head had snapped. There in the trees, a man a foot taller than Nox with calculating reptilian eyes, the color of an overcooked egg yolk, was just stepping foot in the rather large clearing.
"Long time youngest brother. " the man said. Nyx narrowed her eyes at the man, sizing him up. Even with his magic at full strength, Nyx thought she could easily take him. Even without her magic.
"Merely two decades...brother." Nox used the term loosely. Nyx noticed the moment Edmond acknowledged her. Her hand inching closer to Zedora.
"You must be the infamous Finesse towe Nightingale I've been waiting for you darling."
Nyx shuddered. She wasn't a darling. If she was, it certainly wasn't in context or relation to Edmond. If anything she was Nox's darling.
"I am not your darling nor will I ever be." Nyx sneered.
"Feisty aren't you?" Edmond asked rhetorically. Eyeing her leather clad body.
"That's not the half of it." Nyx shot at him with all the venom she could muster. Edmond, surprisingly, flinched away. Nox looked pleased at the reaction.
"So, did you come to flirt pointlessly with my fiancè or to end this?" Nox finally asked sardonically.
Edmond snapped his attention back to Nox. His cold, reptilian eyes narrowing at Enoch.
"I do believe you are mistaken. Onyx will marry me, whether I have to force her or not."
"Are you stupid or crazy? Both perhaps?" Nox inquired.
Nox delved into his reserve of magic, it flexed and coiled like an extension of his very being. Nox allowed himself to disappear, the shadows engulfing even his scent and heartbeat.
"Playing in the shadows once again brother?" Edmond taunted.
Nyx scowled. Although she had never before witnessed the extent of Nox' s skill, the stories and the recount of his first victim was enough to convince her that Edmond greatly underestimated his younger sibling.
