Sitting halfway through first period AP Literature I realized that Austin was in my class.Who knew the bad boy was smart? He sat towards the back with 2 boys who I now know are his best friends, Hunter and Mason. From what Haven told me, those boys are bad news. Fights, jail time, & house arrest must be the main words in their vocabularies. Austin brought me out of my thoughts as he cleared his throat. "Yo Blondie." I stayed as still as possible trying to pretend as if I was really interested in whatever Mrs.Mayfield was saying. "Kayla, Kacy, or whatever your name is." I heard his two shadows snicker behind me. I clenched my fists ready to respond. "My name isn't Kayla nor is it Kacy. It's Kaleigh and if you can't say it right then don't talk to me at all." And with that, I turned back around in my seat and mentally gave myself a pat on the back. "Oooh Feisty. I like them like that." , Austin said as he eyed me down. " Now let's cut to the chase. You're hot and I want your number. Now write it down and give it to me." I stared at him in disbelief. "I'd rather die."
His friends laughed really loud. I saw him clench his jaw before I turned back around in my seat.
"Ahem. Ms. Andrews, is there anything you would like to share with the class? It seems to have Hunter and Mason cracking up in the back" , Mrs.Mayfield nodded her head in the direction of the boys. I looked around to see the entire class staring at me. "No Ma'am."
"Thank you. Next time, don't interrupt my class."
Okay I officially hate this teacher.

The rest of the class was a blur and by the time the bell rang, I hadn't even noticed that Haven was standing by the door waiting for me. " What took you so long?Daydreaming about Austin?" , she teased as we exited the class and walked down the hall. "Ha Ha. Very funny." , I said, clearly unamused. As we turned the corner, I noticed Austin pushed up against the lockers, smooching with the same brunnete from this morning.I scowled in disgust as she moaned loud enough for the entire school to hear. Haven must have noticed my reaction because she pointed to the brunnete."That's Avery Collins. She's the head cheerleader and the biggest bitch in the school."
"Are they like....Dating?" I asked a little hesitantly.
"Avery and Austin? No way. Avery hooks up with anything with a penis, while Austin is a certified man-whore. Girls practically throw their selves at him."
When I finally found my locker, I immediately opened it and began to put textbooks into it. When I closed my locker, I jumped nearly two feet into the air. There was Austin, arms crossed, with one foot on the locker opposite to mines. He looked down at me and immediately smirked. Behind me, I heard Haven snicker. I shot her a look, and turned my attention back on Austin. "Can I help you with something?" I asked, unsure of his motives.
"You can apologize for acting like a bitch earlier and beg me for your forgiveness." , He said as calm as ever. I gasped. "I'll apologize when I go out with you. Which by the way is only in your dreams." I walked away with Haven close behind, leaving Austin dumbstruck. Haven ran up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder stopping me. "Wow, Kaleigh. You've got guts. No girl has ever turned Austin down.Never. You must have really hurt his pride back there." , Haven said as she fought back a smile. We both turned to see a red faced Austin with balled up fists, anger clear in his eyes. I rolled my eyes, "Please. If he's such a man-whore, he'll be on to his next victim by lunchtime." I told Haven as we entered our math class. Turns out Avery was also in that class. As I made my way to an empty seat, Avery put her purse in the seat as I was about to sit. "Um, excuse me I was going to sit here." , I said a little bit annoyed. "Exactly. That's why I put my purse right there." Avery scoffed as two girls to her left snickered."Nice one, come up with that while you were hooking up with Austin?Or was it Mason? Or was it both? Hmph , I've only been here a couple of hours, and I've heard a whole biography of you. Thanks for putting your cheap purse right there. I wouldn't want to sit next to a thing like you anyways."
Making my way to the next available seat, I heard gasps all around me. Apparently that had been the only time anyone had ever seen anyone stand up to Avery Collins. But what do I care? No one, and I mean No One talks to Kaleigh Andrews like that.Never have. Never will.I must have been in my thoughts again because I was interrupted by one of the air heads that had snickered at Avery's comment earlier. "But she's perfect Avery. I mean, look at her. She has the obvious body of a cheerleader." She looked back at me and smiled. "No. Absolutely No. I am not allowing that bitch on my team." She narrowed her eyes at me and turned back around.
"But if she tries out, and is perfect, you'll have no choice but to allow her to join the team.", the other friend piped up.
"Shut up Kaci.Besides, she probably can't even do a perfect cartwheel, let alone cheer for a championship winning team."
I smiled to myself. I was sooo going to cheerleader tryouts today. If only I could get Austin out of my mind.
