Tim rushed towards the phone and pressed the answer button, "Homicide Department, speak." He commanded.
"Chill, Timbo. We found something," The deep voice belonging to Jason Todd. The 'brawn' of the crew.
"You did? What is it?" Dick asked, standing next to Tim.
There was rustling on the other line before Jason went back to talking, "It's a USB flash drive." He replied.
Dick frowned and bit down on his bottom lip, "Hm... Interesting. Come on back and bring it in." He instructed before writing down the findings on a memo pad.
"Roger that."
When Jason made it back to the department Tim was immediately scanning the flash drive. His eyes skimmed over files but every time he tried opening on it would show a passcode screen.
"Damnit!" Tim growled as he slammed his fist next to his screen.
"What's wrong?" Dick asked, carrying large files for Tim to sort through.
Tim glanced up at him, "The files are all locked." He sighed heavily in annoyance.
Dick narrowed his eyes, "How bad are they locked?" He questioned, sitting down next to him.
"Pretty bad. Every single one is locked and it doesn't give me how many digits are in the passcode." Tim answered huffily.
Jason laughed from over at his seat, "Well aren't we in tough shit." He said rhetorically.
Tim shot him a look and flipped him off, "Ooh~ how you wound me!" Jason mocked.
"Great, what are we going to do now?" Tim asked, slamming his head against the desk.
Dick bit his lip in thought before exhaling a quick breath. "I... I know a person we could call." He spoke up.
Tim and Jason gave him curious expressions before Jason grinned. "Ohh!! You're going to call him, right?" He asked teasingly.
Dick sighed and nodded, "Yeah. I'll call him." He answered and reached for his phone.
"Call who?" Tim questioned, looking at Jason.
Jason turned, "Oh right, you weren't here yet. Three years ago there was this hacker who cracked codes from the government and he did illegal searches on random people who paid him. Dick and I arrested him but he got out due to Bruce giving a chance to redeem himself by providing aid to the police force when needed." He explained.
Tim looked wary, "Are you sure it's a good idea? He's a criminal." He reminded.
Jason smirked, "That's the best part. Dick totally had a thing for him." He mused loudly so Dick would hear.
Dick flushed red, "Shut up! That was three years ago! I haven't talked to him... In, like, a month." He defended.
"Ooh, a month, so long." Jason rolled his eyes sarcastically.
"How low, you fell for a criminal." Tim mocked with a sleepy grin.
Dick huffed, "Oh shut it, Tim. You look like you're going to fall over any minute." He warned.
Tim shrugged, "True. I think I got most of my work done, tomorrow you can call your mystery hacker." He added with an exhausted sigh.
"Right, well, I'll see you later then." Dick agreed before stretching his back, "You heading home yet?" He looked over to Jason.
Jason nodded, "Yeah. Valentine is probably waiting for me so I better head back before he gets too worried." He replied.
"Alright, good night."
