Caitlin held onto her secret for years, remaining a burden she was willing to carry. She desperately wanted to protect her son Zion from this world and from his father Bronze Marcelo, the most prominent artist of the rap industry. Simultaneously, sh...
The large kitchen had pots of herbs hanging from the ceiling, which led to a potent smell of rosemary, mint, and parsley. Caitlin peered into the kitchen from the end of the hallway. She peeped out the wide window above the sink that revealed the sights of rain. She snuck another glance further into the kitchen. Asa had moved back and forth from the island and the stove. In between cooking and preparation, he expertly chopped the green onions and then, the mushroom, to add both into the boiling pot. She watched him, admired his conspicuous way around the kitchen, along with his broad shoulders and chest. Her mind started imagining scenarios of him nude. She closed her eyes and slapped the side of her head, groaning. Why such dirty thoughts?
If she was being honest with herself, Ace had entered her mind frequently. She often imagined his hands touch the side of her face, cuddle her face, and his lips finally pressing onto hers. Her imagination began to run even faster. His hands would continue down her back to pull her against him, chest to chest. His hand would settle on her bottom to squeeze. The sounds of excitement would escape her lips.
Her eyes fluttered opened and watched him with amazement. Asa returned to the island, his eyes carried him to where she stood in close proximity. She swallowed the urgency of want and smiled weakly in his direction. Waving her over, he suggested one of the stools behind the marvel countertop.

Unhurriedly, Caitlin took the seat, and with the towel on her head, continued to pat her hair dry from the earlier downpour. She snuck side glances to watch him. In deep concentration, he added a few dashes of seasoning. Her smartphone buzzed in her pocket, again. Probably to notified the missed calls she had from Bronze. With a quick tap, she silenced another incoming call. Asa gently lowered the soup bowl in front of her and handed her a spoon. He sat down beside her with his own share.
"This smells amazing, Ace," Caitlin said. "I appreciate it."
"Buen provecho," Ace said. She thanked him.
He blew his soup softly and took his first sip. The way his spoon barely touched his lips made her tingle. She licked her lips. She followed his lead and indulged in her meal. The bowl was full of potatoes, mushrooms, herbs, celery, carrots, and onions, which unexpectedly caused a surprising aftertaste. The warmth of the creamy soup stirred a slight sound of content coming from her close lips. Asa smirked, as though he was admiring his work of art.
