And then he spoke.
"You do not belong in the land of the spirits yet, my child." The voice, it was that of a man. "Your physical body was destroyed too soon, so I've decided to craft you a new one. My child, you are a being of great power, you must understand your role in this reality."
My brain raced. So many questions ran through my head at once. Who is he? What does he mean by crafting me a new body? What does he mean by power? What is he?
Those were just a few. My head ached, come to think of it, my entire body ached."What are you?" I asked.
"I am an Angel." The creature said. "I am an Angel of death. Most call me Reaper."
Reaper, that's an interesting name."Why did you bring me back?"
"As I said before, your previous physical body was destroyed too soon." He replied.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Everyone has a set number of years to live," Reaper said. "And everyone is required to live those years. All of them. It has never happened before, that someone has died before the time came. You, my child, are the first."
My brain processed the information being given to me."What do you mean by power?"
"The physical form that I have crafted for you is extremely powerful. You have many abilities that you may find interesting."
"What are they?"
"Strength, speed, agility, to name a few." He said. "You have been blessed by the deities above, they each had a hand in creating you."
"Why am I here? What do you want from me?"
"Your purpose, it's one you've always wanted to accomplish, was it not?" He said. I was confused. "You are to be a saviour. You are to help those who who need to be helped. It is as the Oracles have foretold. I have blessed you with powers beyond your imagining. Use them to your advantage. Use them with caution."
I was astounded. I was supposed to be some kind of hero? I wasn't sure."Take me somewhere that I can live. I need to be around people." I said calmly. Reaper nodded, and in an instant, we were in an apartment. It was small, it could maybe fit two people. It was a nice place though, it looked expensive.
"What country are we in?" I asked.
"We are in Canada, your home country."
"Reaper, how am I going to pay for this?" I asked. The Angel chuckled.
"Do not worry, my child, we have agents in the physical world. They know that you will need to have shelter provided for you. They will take care of any of your expenses." He said.
"Oh, okay."
"I understand that this information is difficult to process. I will give you time. I have only one question for you, my child. Do you remember your name?"
"My name? My name is... it's... I don't remember." I said.
"That's alright. You may choose your name for yourself, we will provide you with identification papers."
"Adrihanna. My name will be Adrihanna Wilshire."
Reaper nodded. He disappeared and came back a few minutes later with a passport and a driver's license."These are yours. I must leave you for now my child. But we will see you again soon."
And with that, Reaper left me alone. I went to the first bedroom, and sat on the soft plush mattress. It was comfortable. My brain tried desperately to process the information.
I died, and I came back to life. Okay then.
There was a desk in the front of the room. I went to it. It was made of dark wood, I put my hand on the surface, and pushed. Hard. It seemed sturdy. I noticed a mirror on the other side of the room. I decided to see what my new appearance looked like.
I was thin, but curvy. My skin was pale, but it was not ghostlike. I touched my face. My fingers drifted towards my high cheekbones, feeling the structure of my face. My grey eyes twinkled, and I smiled. I looked gorgeous. A drastic change from my previous body. I was taller, and more willowy. I looked at my hair. It was golden. I was going to have to get used to this body. I decided to continue my inspection of the house, when I heard a knock on the door.
I walked to the front of the apartment, and opened the door. When I saw who it was, I gasped. There stood the man I had loved.
There stood my murderer.
