The next day I woke up feeling weird, but I just passed it off and went along with my day. It wasn't until 7:30 am when Ciel summoned me to his office. He had just received a message of a new possible Jack the Ripper victim.
"The victim was Mary Jane Kelly." He informed me. I looked around his office for a smirking Sebastian, but he wasn't there.
"Okay, but um, Ciel? Where's Sebastian?" I asked.
"He is doing me an airen this morning, he'll be meeting us in town in a few hours."
"But wouldn't it be smart if we had Sebastian acompany you through the entire day?" After I said that, he raised an eyebrow. "You know, since you're so close to cracking the case of Jack the Ripper. And you have no idea what you're going up against, it would be smart just play it safe."
He stood up from his desk and walked over to me with a serious look on his face. "I appreciate your consern, but I think we can handle ourselfs just for a few hours." It took a moment, but I agreed with him. "Now then." His tone got even more serious, if that was possible. "You are going to have to tell me as much as you know about this. Like who is Jack the Ripper? And will tonight be the night that I face this man?"
I sighed. "Yes, tonight you will face Jack the Ripper, but Jack the Ripper is not just one person. There is both a woman and a man involved. Or to make it clearer, a human and a grim reaper." Ciel looked at me with confusion.
"A grim reaper? They actually exist?"
I nodded. "Yes, they do, and this one is named Grell. But I will warn you, this particular grim reaper is very......different from others." He looked even more confused. "He gets a 'strong' attraction to Sebastian, and pretty much just stalks him through out the two years you know him." I chuckled, remembering all of the funny yet creepy things Grell has done.
"What do you mean two years?" Ciel had an extremely worried look on his face. "What happens to me after the two years are up?" CRAP! CRAP! I didn't mean to say that like that!
"Nothing!" I said nervously. "You just don't see him that much after the two years is up. He'll seem like just a forgotten memory." I rushed out. Dear god. I am such a terrible person.
"Okay, if you say so." He said, with the worrying gone and the confusion back in his voice. "Now, let's get back to business. Would you acompany me to town to assist me to work on the case?" He asked.
"Sure thing, short stuff." I teased, trying to act as if I didn't almost just revealed the ending of his story to him. He scowled at me. Then we made our way outside, to leave towards town.
Once we arrived at the late Mary Jane Kelly's house, there were still a few policemen there. They didn't say much, only that they were wraping things up to give Ciel his space. What surprised me was the respect that had for Ciel. Since he is still considered as a boy and not a man yet; I'd expected them to treat him kinda like a child, but apparently not. Being both the head of a wealthy company and the Queen's Guard Dog does a lot for your reputation I guess. One way or another, he must be proud of himself.
"I found the body." Ciel called from another room. I followed his voice into what seemed like the kitchen, he stood in a doorway that led outide. I walked over to him and took a glance over Ciel's shoulder to see the horribly mangled body of Mary Jane Kelly. I quickly turned my head, not wanting to see it anymore, but it wouldn't be the last time I saw one; a dead body that is. Knowing this story, it sure in hell won't be the last.
The smell alone was horrid. Just the sight was bad enough, but the sent of rotting flesh made it even worse. "What kind of monster would do this to a person." I said rhetorically, already knowing whom the murderers are.
