Despite my young age, I've seen and heard loads of stories about parents, mentally ill apparently, who kill their own children and themselves, because they don't want to die and live them alone. They believe in Heaven and Hell. Thinking that if they both die, they will be able to take care of them in life after death somewhere in the sky with angels, called Paradise.
Recently, a psychopath mother (who thought she had cancer and was about to die, despite doctors where assuring her that she was healthy) killed her own teen daughter, because she was afraid of what she would become after her death. Both of them dead at the same time, going to heaven. Well, not.
Religions, in this case Orthodox Christianity, are a major threat. Believe in things you will never see or hear, follow orders, obligated to do or do not certain things. Let's stay on the first negative.
Things you don't see or hear with no actual proof:
Religions make their followers believe that there is a creature that will punish them or reward them after their death. That there is a place where they will go after their death, Heaven or Hell, and if they were good people back on Earth they will be rewarded, happy, living eternally with their family and loved ones.
That last sentence. That's why some people kill. Save their souls, protect their loved ones forever.
Is there any scientific proof that certifies life after death? Not.
When you die, you just die. Buried and eaten by worms. Or becoming dust. (Second choice sounds more interesting). Taking someone else's life makes you a cruel, selfish criminal.
Obligated to do or do not things. Some certain actions like love a co-human, not kill, not steal etc are basic human well behavior. It's logical. Thus, no religion can take credits on that.
I am really annoyed with the fact that I have to follow rules like don't eat flesh certain days of the week or go to a building every Sunday pay them and show how religious you are. Basically churches, at least in my country, are places where you go leave your money but they do not pay taxes to the country. Imagine, under the name of a church, earning money tax free. What a great deal. Not to mention that no man is a saint that can resist his nature and not have sex like all the monks claim they do. Well, back to the main topic. Religions are a way to control people. They give you a way to live. That sounds so disturbing.
Guess what? I live once so I am not gonna live a life as a virgin before marriage (why men don't have to be virgins, too?), who has to follow certain rules, obligated to do or do not things because I won't go to Heaven, if I don't follow up. Sounds so absurd.A manifesto of a free woman.
Yours, Autonomous.
