Time Travel Chronicles
Part I
There are many historical references in this story. Please excuse any historical discrepancies. The multiverse theory proposes that there are an infinite number of parallel universe that are in different timelines.
The story begins when Angie goes to Masai’s planet to be tormented (torture is a custom that aliens employ to extract a demonstration of loyalty from a willing subject). Masai (she was once in Angie’s original crew) is a member of the Galactic Council. She’s a typical pseudo-human with large eyes and a small nearly lipless mouth. Most pseudo-humans are bald as is all Cyborgs. This story begins the day after Masai torments Angie.
Keep in mind that Angie has god-like powers, but she is not infallible and her bipolar mental condition causes her to shift from manic intensity to morbid depression and back. She is the quintessentially flawed super hero. The aliens consider her to be a goddess, someone to admire and fear.
When people transport, they are not using a device like that in Star Trek. They do it with their minds. This is one of the minor powers that all assimilated people have.
Chapter 1
When Masai's office door slid open, she saw a demure human female standing outside.
"Please come in, Angelina."
Angie kept her hands folded and her head bowed.
"How are you?" Tosai asked her. She and Kosai were seated on a couch.
"I'm okay. I still have some residual pain, but nothing serious."
"Do you derive pleasure from pain?" Kosai asked.
"Some claim that I do, but regardless of that I accept it as my duty to the Council." She turned to Masai. "Thank you. You did a very effective job. The pain was exquisite."
"I have never had anyone that I have tortured thank me," Masai said. "Tormenting you was a pleasure. You suffered without anger or complaint."
"I see no reason for me to become upset with you. You were only doing your assigned task."
"I am being a poor hostess, Angelina," Masai said, gesturing to a chair. "Please sit, and I will give you refreshments."
Angie sat on a plush chair. "Thank you."
Masai handed Angie a glass of violet liquid.
"This is very good," Angie said after taking a sip. "It resembles an Earth wine, a Cabernet."
"Thank you," Masai said.
"Let me ask you something," Angie, said. "Do you fear me?"
"I am concerned about you, Angelina. Fear is too strong of an emotion for my species."
"Why are you concerned?"
"Because you are powerful and capable of great violence."
Angie’s face didn’t reflect anger or hatred. "That is a lie. You are afraid that I will change your social order and free males. I don't know why you persist in this concern. I believe in the domination of males as you do."
"If that is true, why do you have males in command positions?"
"Because they have the necessary skills, and I do not discriminate. These males are under my control. They are my slaves." Angie's eyes suddenly widened with alarm. "Something has happened!"
