TW: slight self-harm and possible symptoms of anxiety
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey Lance?" Pidge entered the lounge, her voice small. The paladins had recently finished off another tough battle against the galra, so they all seemed to be slugging around. Pidge sounded more than tired though, which really caught Lance's attention.
"What's up Pidge?" He sat up from his slouched position on the couch and patted the spot next to him. She hesitated before sitting down a few inches away from where he had suggested. He raised an eyebrow at her but decided it'd be best to stay silent.
Pidge removed her glasses, rubbing her eyes then placing them gently in her lap. "Have you seen Keith around lately?"
Lance tilted his head to the side like a confused puppy. "I mean, we just saw him in battle, but that was nearly two hours ago."
"Exactly! But have you seen him at all after that?"
Lance took a moment to think, then shook his head. The more that he thought about it the more he realized how little he'd seen Keith that whole week. It seemed to be just for battles if they were needed, and that had only a been a total of two times. He hadn't been in the training room either, which was very unusual. He wouldn't say he necessarily missed Keith, but not seeing him around the castle at all had put an unsettled feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"No, I haven't seen him," Pidge let out a small breath. "I don't think he's been training either. Maybe he finally realized he can never be better than me and gave up." He tried his best to joke but instantly regretted it when he looked at Pidge's expression. This was obviously serious to her.
"Lance," she grumbled. "He's been acting really weird. I don't think he leaves his room, or his lion when we finish battles. I don't know what to do." She sounded so small all of a sudden.
"If it makes you feel any better, I'll go try and talk to him. Okay?" He didn't know what he was going to say when or if he found him, but Pidge was worried and that bothered him. She reminded him too much of his niece back on Earth and he would do anything for her. She nodded and thanked him before leaving the room. Lance stood up but didn't follow her. After a moment of silence, Lance finally walked through the automatic door.
Monster.
That's what you are.
They'll hate you if they see you like this.
Just give up already!
Sitting in the center of his bed, Keith had himself wrapped in his thin blanket, squeezing his eyes shut. He tried to force his thoughts and tears away but he couldn't seem to calm himself down.
You know how they'll all react.
Hunk would be terrified.
Pidge would run away.
You know for a fact that Allura would try to get rid of you!
Keith gripped his arms to try and keep himself grounded. He knew he would spiral away from himself if he didn't.
And Lance?
He'll hate you.
Keith suddenly let out a choked sob. He didn't like to admit it out loud, but he loved the team. They had all become as close as family. In fact, they were his family. He gripped his arms harder, his claws ripping through the blanket and piercing the skin underneath. He winced but didn't loosen his grip.
