ThunderStorm Darkness

I should honestly just change the name to klance one shots considering it's all I write lmao

Keith is afraid of storms and Lance does his best to keep him calm. (it's a high school au I guess)

Usually Keith enjoyed studying with his boyfriend in the school library. Especially after school, when there were only a few people left, either doing the same as them or just reading in a corner. However, it had been raining hard all day, which Keith knew, usually resulted in a thunderstorm.

He's had a fear of storms since around seventh grade, when he and his parent had gotten into a car crash due to the heavy rain. Everyone was fine other than a few cuts and bruises but the experience was still traumatic to Keith.

Now because of that trauma, the sound of thunder and heavy rainfall would send him spiraling into a panic attack.

Lance, unbothered by the rain, sat silently while reading his textbook.

"Wait I don't understand," Lance started but was cut off by a loud crash of thunder that practically shook the entire building.

The lights flickered a bit but continued to glow brightly a second later.

"Ha, woah," Lance said, looking around the room. "What was I saying?"

"Uh.. I, I don't know.." Keith replied quietly, taking a deep breath.

"You okay?"

More thunder.

Keith whimpered and brought his knees to his chest, holding himself against the bookshelf they leaned against. He'd abandoned his textbook and shut his eyes.

"Keith?" Lance put his textbook down as well, turning to his boyfriend. "Keith, are you okay?"

"I.. I'm.." Keith breathed, bringing his hands up to his head to cover his ears.

"Babe, are you afraid of thunder?" Lance asked softly, rubbing Keith's arm gently. Keith only nodded, before scooting closer to Lance to hug him tightly.

"I'm sorry, it's just," another crash of thunder cut him off. Lance held Keith closer, attempting to comfort him.

"Don't apologize Keith. I'm here for you."

They sat for a while, Lance holding Keith close and humming to keep him calm. The thunder seemed to quiet down for the most part, leaving Keith able to calm down a bit.

Alright this isn't that great and I began writing this when I was basically having my own little panic attack because of a storm but now that that's gone I kinda lost the motivation to continue lmao

I think I'll just leave this here and try and work on a mermaid au I've been planning in my head
