Sarah sits on her bed doing her Math homework in her textbook. It’s a Wednesday afternoon and it’s right after school. So, she put her notebook away and got her little notebook laptop, her black Asus Eee. She opened up a new document and begun to write something new.
Delilah was a twenty six year old, short, curvy brunette, beautiful, very creative, and a very intelligent young lady. She was invited to the wedding by Dustin, but, Shar didn’t want her there. Over the years, Dustin and Delilah formed a new unbreakable friendship that grew stronger and stronger over the years. Delilah stared at her friend and his new wife dance to “The Only One for Me” by: Brian McKnight. Shar’s been back in Delilah’s life since last year. She never liked Delilah since the seventh grade, and Dustin, she knew him in eighth grade but, had to go different ways considering she went to a private school he went to a public one. They met three years ago, by chance.
**Flashback**
Delilah was walking the streets of New York. She was listening to her iPod, humming the song, “Right by My Side “by: Nicki Minaj featuring, Chris brown. She was on the way to her amazing job at the New York Times, when she suddenly decided to stop for coffee. She went into the café called, “Amadeus Pizza”. So, she walked in and saw a massive line of people waiting for drinks, food, or service of some kind. So, she got in line, waited and checked her watch twenty minutes early to work, as usual. She would have to wait for a while, because there was a huge line in front of her. Her eyes went wide in excitement as her favorite song came on, “Rumor has it” by: Adele. She swayed her hips to the opening beat and nodding her head also. She remembered in eighth grade, her best friends and her were always singing Adele at recess, and goofing off. She was a writer but, she always sung when anything happened in her life, even if she wasn’t as awesome as her best friend back then. As the slow part came on, she sung with soul, she always sung that part that way since back then and she wasn’t going to change that now. Once, two more songs played after “Rumor Has It” she finally got to the front of the line.
“Can I please get one cup of coffee? One cream two sugars…” she said to the cashier.
While, the cashier got her coffee, she looked at her watch. Twelve minutes, Great! She thought, I have to jog now, four blocks from here! Plus, Diana said that I had to train the new guy… yet, I’m been in the journalist business for a while now….Never once asked me, so why now? The cashier came back and gave her, her coffee.
“Thank you” Delilah said.
The cashier only smiled and began to help the next customer. Delilah walked out of the café, quickly and began to jog to work. With her jogging, spilling hot coffee on herself while trying to drink it, and bumping into a couple of people on the way. She made it to work with five minutes to spare. She worked on the top floor, with all the other article writers and reporters. Once, she got on her floor she hurriedly walked to Diana’s office. She knocked on the door like she’d done since ever since she was a little girl.
Sarah smiled at what she was accomplishing what she was writing but, had to get back to her homework. So, she hurriedly finished her Math homework in the next twenty minutes and had only Spanish and English homework to get done. So, she did her journal entry for English and did her Spanish homework that Mr. Collin gave her class yesterday. She’d read for thirty minutes after she wrote some more, her story was getting good.
“Come in” Ms. Dana said urgently.
Delilah walked in as she was told.
“Good morning Ms. Dana. How are you today?” Delilah replied.
“On edge, waiting for this new guy to arrive” she stopped typing and gave Delilah a folder that had some papers in it, “ Today, I need you to go and check out the Music Festival in Central Park. I need to know, who was there? Why they have this every year? And what kind of Music was playing. Also, what people’s reactions were to the event?” Ms. Diana said sternly, “Brief the new guy on today’s assignment. Get him to take pictures. He is your new partner”.
