"Ein?" I whispered, looking at the wolf in front of me. The wolf nodded, giving me an evil smile. He was going to kill me. I backed away, tears brimming my eyes. 'Your still weak.' A voice said, it was a male. But it was in my mind. I looked at Ein, a tear slipping. He stalked closer to me, pushing me to a wall, I let out a whimper but he didn't seem to care. 'You're going to come with me, weakling. You let them take me. Now I'm letting them take you.' He growled. He blamed me. He. Blamed. Me. I kept repeating in my mind, I looked down to his paws. He was right, it was my fault.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me onto his furry back. I grabbed onto his fur, as he ran out into the field. I looked at the barn, then all around. My mom held my dad's bloody body, sobbing. While Dante tried to calm her. Angelica was near them, dead as well as dad. I sobbed, making them look at me. Everyone else was just injured, while only two were dead. Alpha Kyle looked at me, then to the barn worried. I nodded saying she was okay. He sighed in relief before running to the barn. Outsiders surrounded the outskirts of the wall, waiting for Ein and I. Ein growled at them and they all turned tail and ran to the forest. I looked back at my family. Mom was going to die without her mate. I would only have Dante left. "Why did you kill my dad and sister? Why?! Huh?! To kill my whole family? For what?!" I yelled at Ein, crying my eyes out. 'They got in my way.' He barked at me in my head, giving me a wolfy evil smile.
"They were protecting themselves! My mom's going to die now too! You killed her mate!" He glanced down when I said mate, weird. "When a mate dies, the other one does too after. Because they're so heart broken, sure they can live. But they won't last long. Some even suicide! You jerk!" I screamed, the wolves in front of us turned back for a bit then dashed ahead of us.
Ein dropped me off his back, and went behind a tree. I was too shocked to move. He came back in human form with clothes on. He had black hair, that was medium, with hazel eyes. He had a tint of red within. "Never speak of mates again. They're weak." He growled, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder. "What happened to you, you used to be sweet, now you're cold hearted," I whispered, looking behind us, knowing if I fought back I could be killed.
We arrived to a waterfall, little did I know, that there was a cave behind it. I was thrown onto a leaf pile, while others were on feathers. Ein layed in front of me in his wolf form, where no one could see or get to me. Did he even care? Or does he still care? I thought as I layed down, closing my eyes. I felt safe, even though I wasn't. I pet his fur unintentionally, but he didn't seem to mind. I started to fall asleep, while I could hear wolves shifting and talking. I'm pretty sure Ein stayed awake.
Ein's POV
I looked at Nina, while the other people talked. She fell asleep so fast, but that could be expected. She was in the heat of my fur, so she felt comfortable. The guys talked about taking over my old pack, but I gave them a growl. Sure, I wasn't in the pack no more, or even wanting to go back. I still cared, it was the Alpha in me. That's why I was these guys' Alpha.
Some challenged me, but they were dead. I snapped to a guy who had mentioned something about Nina. He backed away, scared. I growled until he was out of the cave. No one messes with Nina, but me. Nina rolled over, until she was snuggled into my fur. I chuckled and layed my head down. Glaring at the wolves around before closing my eyes.I woke up to Nina sitting up. I growled at her, and stood to my paws. I walked out into a different cave and stole clothes from it. I shifted and got dressed, then headed out. I saw a wolf stalking towards her and I growled loudly. He didn't seem to back away so I walked over and grabbed him by the scruff. "Listen to me or die." I growled to all of them, snapping the wolf's head off. Nina looked away, making my heart hurt. I shook my head. A memory forming in my mind, making me smile a bit.
"I'll never let anyone hurt you," I said to Nina as we sat outside at a picnic table. "Pinky promise?" She said, and held out a pinky. I curled mine around hers and smile. "Pinky promise." She hugged me and squealed as I stood up and ran off. She hopped on my back and screamed, "piggy back ride!" I dropped her soon after, and ran to hide. 'Hide and go seek!' I mind linked her. Since we had a close friend ship, I could mind link her. I could picture her adorable smile, as she would nod. I looked back to see an outsider growling at me. I paused before growling back. I ran off to a happy Nina. I howled a warning howl, and her father quickly came to help.
Her father was injured, and was dying. I licked Nina's tears away, and then killed a outsider who was near to biting her arm off. Later after a wolf had gotten me, and I watched her as she saw me get taken. She didn't even move to help. All she had to do, was try to help where I could get up and kill him. She didn't help me.
"Ein?" Nina asked, making me look at her. "Get up." I growled, walking out of the cave. I put my hand in the waterfall, and turned around waiting for her.
