Dark Past, Darker Future

Chapter 8

Rowan's P.O.V 

I slowly wrap my arms around my big brother, then pull away, walking out to go get some food. As I walk up the basement stairs, I trip on a step as it was dark because Rayden's dim lamp light didn't reach all the way up the stairs. I hiss lowly as my legs hit the stairs and I catch my self on one of the steps in front of me. I stand up, cradling my right arm, and slowly walk up the stairs again. As I blindly open the door, I walk into the kitchen after making sure my parents didn't stay home today. I walk over to the fridge and notice the time on the stove. 

9:46* (* means PM)

It's late.. Why didn't Ciel tell me that it was this late?! I quickly grabbed a bag of chips and a cookie, along with them a can of soda and juice box. I grabbed a sandwich and a bottle of tea, and headed back down the stairs. I gently placed the cookie and juice box in front of Rayden on his bed and the sandwich and tea of Ciel's bed. Rayden hugged me gently, then began to eat his snack while Ciel walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later. 

I sat on my bed, and ate my food, working on homework that I hadn't gotten done. While flipping through my math notes a piece of paper fell out, and I smiled as "Rowan ❤" was scribbled on the folded paper in Fabian's handwriting. 

I opened the note gently.

"Hey Fey, it's me, the great Fabian.

I don't know what happens to you at home, but I know that you don't want to tell me. I respect that, though I hope you will tell me eventually...once you trust me. I know it's hard for you to trust. I also know that I'm not the reason you stopped cutting- at least not the main reason, but whatever made you stop, I'm glad you did. I'll see you at school,

I looked down at my legs, and bit my lip. I'd wear a skirt tomorrow. I needed to show him...I needed to tell him. I finished my meal and got, up, shaking my head to clear my mind.

"Come on, Rayden, bath time!" Yes, I gave my little brother baths. No, I don't mind seeing his di.ck, I mean, he's fu.cking 6, It doesn't matter. I don't do anything like that to him, I let him clean himself.

I drew the bath, adding bubbles.

He climbed into the tub while I went back into our room for a minute, reappearing with a rubber duck.

"Quackers!"

I said grinning, handing him the duckie. He laughed and splashed around, splashing water on me. I grinned, and took a fake offended gasp, playfully splashing a bit of water all over him. I took a handful of bubble suds, blowing them (not like that ya perv) out of my hand and letting them spread everywhere. He laughed again, booping my nose, which caused soapy suds to get on my nose. I smiled and did the same, playing around with him a bit more before washing his hair.

"Alright, wash up Rayden."

I smile, standing up. I leave the room and change into my pajamas, a pair of short silk shorts and an over-sized shirt. I took the last sip of my soda, and finished my homework before getting up and washing my face and brushing my teeth. Rayden had gotten out and was dressed in his underwear and a pair of blue and green cotton pants with brown and yellow dinosaurs on  them. He was reaching for his shirt, and I laughed softly, taking it down from his closet and handing it to him.

I tucked him into bed after brushing his teeth. I looked over at Ciel who was watching me with a soft smile on his face. He yawned and went to get up to clean up the room, but I stopped him.

"No. You sleep, I'll do it."

He looked at me, as if asking if I was sure.

"Yes, I'm sure, now sleep Ciel. You need it."

"But you need sleep too, Row." He countered, laying down in defeat though.

"I just had two days of it. I'm fine."

I shut off his lamp and Rayden's, beginning to clean up his room before beginning to pack their bags. By the time I was done, it was around 3 in the morning- I had spent a long time repainting the bathroom door and cleaning the mirror and sink. I also replaced the light bulb in my lamp and above the stairs. 

I sighed, laying down in bed. I stared up at the dimly lit room, turning my lamp off and staring into the darkness. I'm not sure when I fell asleep, but I did.

Short filler chapter guys. I included some play time with Rowan and Rayden, and it was fun writing it- I was grinning the whole time. Anyways, this chapter is dedicated to
