*Selena’s POV*

“Wait Justin, did you get her outfit?” I asked as we were about to take the last exit to get to the hospital.

“Yeah, isn’t it in the bag?” He replied as if it were nothing.

“Justin!” I screamed. “I had it laid out on the crib! Turn around right now!”

“Baby I’ll go home and pick it up after she’s born, it’s fine.” He said calmly.

“No Justin, turn around right now!” I yelled. Just then I felt another contraction hit and I started to cry, not only because of the pain but because I needed that outfit for my baby girl. I guess you can blame it on the hormones.

“Baby…” He sighed. “Ok fine.” He rolled his eyes and made a U-Turn at the next light.

I squeezed his hand tight. The contractions weren’t that much apart at this point and I was really hoping and praying that I would still make it to the hospital on time.

“It hurts.” I whispered. “A lot.” Luckily, the hospital wasn’t that far away from the house so maybe we can still make it on time. Justin pulled into the driveway and I needed to get out of the car. It was so uncomfortable right now and I just needed to lay down or something but stay sitting in this small area.

Justin was about to run out of the car when I stopped him. “Justin I need to get out.”

“What? No, you can’t get out. I’ll be back in two seconds, I promise.” He said nervously and he was sweating at this point. I guess we both knew that there was no way we’d make it to the hospital on time. Our options were either to drive and have the baby in the middle of the road or I can have the baby in the house.

“Justin, I need to push!” I screamed. “The baby isn’t just going to wait!”

“Ok, ok.” He ran to my side of the car and opened the door for me. He helped me get out and I slowly walked to the house.

“Start the water in the tub.” I told him.

“Selena, you’re about to have a baby. You can’t shower right now.” Seriously, he was just as dumb as Scooter.

“I don’t want to get my bed or anything else dirty so I’ll have her in the tub, you idiot.” I replied as he helped me walk towards the bathroom. The water started running and I took off my clothes before getting in.

“Are you sure this is safe?” He asked worried.

“No, the baby’s only been living in water for nine months but it’s not safe.” I retorted sarcastically.

“So what do we do?” He asked. I honestly don’t know if he was really this stupid or if being nervous caused him to act this way.

“Call 911!”

He got his phone and dialed 911. He told him what was happening and they said that they were sending someone now. I honestly was really calm. Unlike Justin who was sweating like crazy and looked like he was about to pass out.

“So this is fun.” I said trying to lighten the mood and calm Justin’s nerves.

“Are you kidding me?” He said. “Are you really saying this right now?”

“C’mon Justin, lighten up. This will be a great story to tell someday.” I winked.

“Selena, she could be hurt for all we know!” He screamed and ran his fingers through his hair.

I felt another contraction hit and I needed to push. “Alright Justin. When the baby comes just you know, pull it out. You’ve seen the doctor do it. Oh and let me know if you see the head.”

“Wait, it’s coming right now!?” He yelled and I nodded. I started to push and Justin looked down. He obviously had no clue what he was doing.

“Oh my gosh, this fuckin’ hurts!” I screamed out in pain. I pushed again. “I will chop your balls off when we’re done here. Mark my words.”

“Oh how I love you!” He smiled.

“Justin give me your hand!” Justin reached one of his hands out and I squeezed it as tight as I could.

“Oh my gosh, the head is out!” Justin said. I let go of his hand so he can reach in and help take her out.

“Goddamnit, Justin! Get her out!” I screamed as I pushed again.

“You can do this baby.” He said. I pushed once more and I saw Justin pull her out of the water and she started crying. Justin gently laid her down on my chest and I started crying.

“Oh my gosh.” I cried when I felt her skin against mine. There’s something about holding your baby for the first time and hearing them cry. It’s an amazing feeling.

Justin sat on the floor right next to me and held on to her little hand. “Hi baby girl.” He whispered in a baby tone.

*Justin’s POV*

“Hi baby girl.” I whispered as I held onto my baby girl’s tiny hand. I was so tired and stressed out and nervous and I was sweating like crazy but when I saw her for the first time it was the best feeling ever.

I couldn’t believe we had just done that. Our daughter had just been born at home, in a tub all because we had forgotten her outfit to bring her home in.

“Oh my gosh, Justin she’s perfect.” Selena smiled as she turned her around in her arms so we can see her face. She opened her eyes and I saw that she had my mom’s eyes. “She has your mom’s eyes.” Selena stated.

“I know.”

“Get a towel from the closet right there so we can wrap her in it.” I got up and got a towel to put around our baby’s tiny body. She couldn’t have been more perfect. It was a crazy experience but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
