The Table (Kristian's POV)

We entered the wide, brightly lit corridor and made our way into the main hallway,an outstretched, green carpeted hall which was a hangout  between periods, outside of free periods, there was always a teacher, prompting us to get to classes. In  that hallway stood a 10 foot tall , oak cabinet that displayed all the awards Alathena High had ever received, only about 60% of those awards are because of me, Kristian Allegro, Alathena's most treasured quarterback, you know, the one who might get kicked out because he's failing Math 101. The hall was littered with the loudest, most fashionable and the richest students at Alathena High, I was one of them except for the rich part. The voices of seemingly hundreds of teenagers in one room, the chattering  and muttering, the occasional, spontaneous  laughter of the gossip queens Olive and Bianka Jewell (the tenacious twins) and their clique, could send a person to a mental institution if they weren't used to it, this seemed to be the case with Lia, who walked slowly, with her head down, trying very hard to not even come in contact with another classmate (she has friends, right, or a friend?) The best thing about the hallway is that if you're quiet enough, you could hear just about anything, who got pregnant, whose dog died, who molested their pet fish when they were 8, anything. I had to stop and greet some people every step I took, it's not uncommon.

A familiar voice called me, "Kristian, bud!", it was Blaire, my childhood best friend, we've been through hell and back together. We did the old 'bro hug' and this handshake we made up when we were 6 years old.

"Bro,  you really need to change that haircut, the blonde surfer hair is kinda getting old, hasn't Chelsea told you that already?." I teased him.

"Nah man, it gets me laid every now and then."

We shared a good laugh, joining the cacophony of the hallway, Blaire and I knew he was a 'kissless' virgin despite having a girlfriend for over 4 months (a personal record of his).

" Where you off to?" I asked, a bit concerned, noticing that his usually pale face was tinted green.

"I gotta use the John. I had the special 'Stew Up', now I've gotta throw up." He laughed, bumped my fist, and paced speedily to the restroom.

Lia had stayed a couple of  inches too far behind me, Blaire didn't even meet her, she was  very quiet and shy when she was in the midst of a crowd, but I wasn't complaining.  I ushered her closer to me, we had to walk in together to let her feel less awkward.

"You don't have to do this if you don't want to. Sleeping together is always on the table." I winked, she blushed a bit, or I thought she did.

"No. This is part of the deal. My first lesson in social interaction. Also, mention sleeping together one more time and I swear I'll kick you out personally!" she snarled fiercely.

"Dang girl,you feisty!" I exclaimed

We turned the corner at the end of the hallway and approached the thin metal doors that separated the cafeteria from the main hall, I pushed open the doors, the scent of hot oil, overcooked meat, trash and sweat mixed with Axe body spray bombarded me all at once, the scent filled my lungs almost choking me to death. We walked past the juniors' tables, where I had to dodge a banana and a couple fries, food fights were common at those tables, at seniors' tables, however , we occasionally had our real fights, that would last about a minute or two before being stopped by 3 or 4 teachers (always spoiling our fun). As we entered the seniors' seating area, the questions flew in like airplanes.

"Hey Kristian, where have you been?"

"Why are you walking with her?"

"Are you two dating?" (funny, this question came from my ex,Vicktoria, the answer depends on whether it hurts or not)
