"Are you alright there?"
I wasn't expecting for this person to sound so friendly. I slowly tilt my head upward towards the figure. No wonder their voice sounded familiar, it was the little girl I bumped into in the gallery. Upon seeing her face, I hastily got up to my shaking feet and enveloped her into a hug. Yes, I know it's awkward, and that she might not want to be this close to a mere stranger, but I need all of the comfort I can get.
"Oh my god! You're the person I bumped into in the exhibit! Are you okay?!"
"Yeah, I'm okay."
I had so many questions, but it's not like she would know the answers to them, and might even be too frightened to answer.
"My dearest apologies, I've seemed to have forgotten your name."
"My name is Ib."
"Pleasure to meet you, Ib. My name is (Y/N)."
After our minimal introductions, we managed to solve the puzzle of this area, and yes, Ib said she's been through others. She also mentioned having a rose as well, and it being linked to her health, just like mine. Soon we find ourselves in a red area, with many more paintings than the previous area. Problem is, I didn't expect the painting of a woman to come crashing off the wall and crawling towards us like a zombie would. After retrieving the key it had dropped, we made our way through a library, and now another spacious room with a painting of a vase, along with another small table with a vase and an old diary. Ib walks up to the vase and nonchalantly drops her rose in it. As the radiant red petals grew back to her rose, I stand there in awe.
So there is a way to heal yourself. Thank god.
I put my (R/C) rose in the vase and watched the petals grow back onto the rose and felt the pain cease from my body, almost as if the ibuprofen you took for your headache finally started kicking in. I curiously look down at my once bloody legs. They looked as if nothing even happened to them.
Huh. Weird.
We decide to explore a bit. We go through the door to our left and we are greeted to another spacious room. Quick glance around the room and I see small droplets of blood and blue petals scattered on the floor.
More petals? Does that mean there's another person here too?
As I bring my head up from observing the ground, the wall in front of me is completely bare, except for a small nameplate, but no painting.
"Lady in Blue"
Oh god, it must be like that Lady in Red who was chasing us earlier. But, where's this one?
Before I could finish my thought, I hear a doorknob rattle. As I whip my head around, I only see Ib, trying to open a locked door.
"Looks like it's locked."
"Ah, okay. I think we've examined all that's in here. Let's go through that other door."
As she slightly nods her little head in agreement, we go to the room to our right, only to be greeted with a collapsed body. The figure had a very ragged denim coat on, and had lavender hair, with dark purple streaks at the top. They lay there on the floor, wincing and groaning in pain. I run over to the figure, cause you know, uh, I don't know, THERE IS A DYING PERSON PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP THEM.
"Excuse me, are you okay?!"
"It...hurts..."
Wait, this must be the person with the blue rose! No wonder they're in pain...poor thing...but wait, what are they holding?
The person was holding a small red key, very tightly. I gently pry their fingers away from it. I have a feeling that the Lady in Blue took their rose and went into that room, then locked the door. I take the key from them, and I tell Ib to watch over them. I don't want her to get hurt, and I don't want that person to be alone, just in case. I rush off to the other room and unlocked the previously locked door.
It's just as I thought. There's the Lady in Blue, and there's more of that person's petals. Oh my god, the way she rips off the petals...
I felt a shiver down my spine. I get the painting's attention, and as soon as she darted towards me, I circled around her and grabbed the blue rose, then left the room. What I didn't expect is for her to break the nearby window. I shield the roses, and although I got cut by some of the glass, apparently there's nothing a vase won't heal. I hightail it out of there, and immediately put both my rose and theirs in the vase.
There. Hopefully that person is feeling a bit better now.
I go back to the room where they were, and Ib is right where I left her.
"(Y/N), are you ok? What happened?"
"Everything's fine, Ib. The painting lady was in that locked room after all. But, I got their rose, so we're good."
I kneel down toward the collapsed figure, and held out their blue rose. Did I mention that all of the roses I've encountered thus far are absolutely mesmerizing? This person's rose was a gorgeous sapphire blue, petals faintly glowing. I hold it out for them.
"Excuse me, are you okay?"
