Chapter 3

  Friday one day before movie night

 Emily's POV

 " Hey, Cedes!" She turned around and once she saw me she smiled," Hey Emily." I caught up with her," Can't wait for today, by the way, you allergic to anything?" She looked up at me," I'm not allergic to spaghetti Emily."  She chuckled and I smiled," Great!"

Cedes's POV

 'I really would like Emily to be my friend but I can't always trust her that's the thing I want to trust her that's why I'm gonna read her mom's mind tonight at least I've mastered my powers to the point where I can see which past to see through but it still pops out whenever I think about the person or like the time when the flashback of Joel came to mind when I'm sure I was about to ruin his day by one word'

"-so yeah what do you think of that?" 'OMG Emily's talking about something and I wasn't listening'," uh sorry I wasn't listening." Emily narrowed her eyes at me," I was suggesting if you like melted cheese on your spaghetti or not?" I gave her a big grin," Of course!" 

Emily's POV 

 "Ok," I said unsurely. Cedes has been acting off since last night but I ignored it Cedes and I finished school and is headed to my house," You're gonna love my mom" I smiled at her," I hope so." she said back, we made it to my house and I opened the door to see my mom sitting on the couch again," Mom! I'm home I brought a guest." My mom looked our way," Who's this Emily?" My mom stood up and walked towards us," This is Cedes she's new to the school." My mom looked at her up and down," Have I met you somewhere?" Cedes shook her head," No ma'am" My mom smiled," Don't need to call me that call me Sarah well my full name is Sarah Jane Brady-Jacobs I know it's long but I prefer to be called Sarah or just Emily's mom if you feel uncomfortable with it" Cedes smiled,"Alright Sarah."

 Cedes's POV

 ' SHE'S A MUTANT TOO!' I had a flashback of Sarah using her powers as a shield of Ice while getting shot by the human army," I can't hold any longer, GO! take Emily with you!" Sarah shouted to Steve," No, I won't leave you!" Steve yelled back with mini Emily in his hands," Just g-" Sarah's shield broke and Steve ran to her and blocked her as a human shield he got shot in the shoulder, leg, and lungs," STEVE!!" 

Steve looked up at her," I'll always be loved you Sarah go escape and bring Emily with you." And those were his last words," STEVE!!!!!" Sarah shook his body but then she felt a sting on her shoulder she grabbed Emily and used her ice as a shield again she finally caught up with the other mutants," STEVE'S DEAD." everyone looked down grieving over the-," We better go before they get us!" Someone said in the back 'dammit I wanted to know what she was about to say'

 " Yes we should, hurry everyone lets get out of here, Opal make a portal to the underground lair, Ruby make an illusion to drive the soldiers away for now, Jewel use the water in their eyes so they can't see limit time 5 seconds I know you can only handle 3 seconds but we need you now, Jaden make a force field to block any bullets, now that everyone is here and gathered we better escape." everyone nodded and did their thing then Cedes got out of Sarah's head and sat down on the couch," Cedes? Are you ok?" Emily asked me and I was gaining my strength," Yeah, I'm fine it's just I have something I really want to tell you and your mom."

 Sarah's eyes widen," Wait are you...NO WAY!!" I looked at her," Let me explain." Sarah nodded," Ok, I'm a mutant I can read people's minds and see their past and I also have super hearing and no one knows not even my parents because my dad is a prosecutor that kills people like me and I'm practicing whenever in class if your wondering." Emily gasped when I said mutant and stayed quiet the entire time

 " So why did you tell us?" Emily asked and her mother stepped up," Because I know her." I nodded feeling guilty," It's true." Emily looked up at her mother," So, how do you know her?" 'Shoot! now she's suspicious' I heard her mother say in her head,"Well?" Emily said sounding impatient," Her mother is an old friend of mine I met her when she was just 10 months old, that time I was still pregnant with you." 

Emily's jaw dropped and she looked at me with awe," So that makes us childhood friends."I could tell this is what Emily does in awkward situations she changes the subject, she smiled at me and I smiled back then I had another flashback, the flashback of her mother looking at me when we met the person that was carrying me isn't the same mother I live with now, then it came at me," I'm adopted." Emily looked at me confused and her mother looked down to hide her guilt," You knew?" I pointed to her mother and she nodded,"yes." It came out barely a whisper.
