The run has been able to clear my head. Well, for as long as it will last. I checked our border all by my self. I needed a long run anyway. A loud scream gets to me. Like it's a child. A girl. I don't even think about it and I turn to run towards it.

Not two minutes later, I find her surrounded by four rogues. What the hell! No rogues on my land. Without making a sound, I take out the first rogue but he snarls at me. Alerting the others. Fighting with my claws and canines, I kill them all. At the same time being able to get rid of some anger and hate towards rogues. Rogues have killed my mother and my father. So obviously, I don't show any mercy on them. When they are dead, I look around and see two more bodies. Are those her parents? I turn my head to the little girl.

She's crying when she sees them. 'Mommy.' Her lip shakes. 'Daddy.'

Smelling the scent, I can tell that her father is a werewolf. Her mother is something too but I don't know what. I try to come between her and her parents. To guide her away from it. Where I lay my head on her shoulder. Nuzzling a bit and then I lay down.

'Can I?' She stutters. 'You... you want me to...'

I nod to her and I can feel that she climbs on my back. Holding tight on my fur. Going back but not so fast at first. God, this little girl just lost her parents. Having her on my back makes me more careful as I make my way back home.

Back at my own house, I let her climb off my back first. Then to walk to the tree where I left my clothes and I shift back. Pulling my clothes on real fast and go back. 'What's your name, sweety?'

'Brianna.' She answers with red eyes from crying.

'I'm Austin and I'm the alpha of this pack. You are welcome to stay here with us.' I'm surprised that she starts crying but louder. I kneel in front of her. 'Brianna, you're safe. No rogue can hurt you here.' Without thinking, I kiss her forehead and pull her into a hug. Damn, what the hell happened to her? She's so young, precious and then to lose so much already.

'Daddy..' She starts again and the tears just don't stop. 'Daddy wanted to come here.' It sounds muffled against my chest.

O, my God. 'Brianna, your parents sacrificed themselves to get you safe here at our pack. You made it, your safe now. That's all that matters to them.' Damn, just to hold her like this makes her look more small and fragile. 'You're mommy and daddy would be proud that you made to the pack. And you know what.' I push her a little away so that I can look at her. 'We'll give your parents a normal funeral. To give their spirits the feeling that they would be welcome in our pack.'

'Really?'

'Yes.' I give her a kiss on her forehead and I get up. Pulling my hand out to her. 'Let's go. The sooner we can hold the funeral for your parents.'

Brianna grabs my hand. 'Thank you so much.'

'You're welcome, sweety. I would do it for anyone.' I assure her. In the kitchen, I give her something to drink. 'I'll be right back. I have to call someone.' I smile a bit and head to the front door. 'Cyril, Tiguan, Nissa. Get here.'

Within a minute they both come running.

'What is it?' Tiguan, my third in command, asks.

'There's been a rogue attack. Two people got killed and I saved a little girl.' I can see that their face changes. 'It's five miles north-west from here. Burn the rogues and bring her parents here so we can give them a proper funeral.'

Tiguan sighs deep. 'I hope it will be the last funeral for a while.'

'I hope so too.' Cyril nods. 'Right on it.'

'Nissa, I need your help too. Brianna is like five or six years old and she needs clothes.' I see the woman come up too.

'Straight away.' Nissa is usually my ears and eyes on the academy.

Also, what I almost forget.... in this story we follow it from Austin's POV. Only the prologue and epilogue will be from Astra's POV. Just in case you were wondering.
