Once the herd passes, i regain my footing and turn on my phone flashlight to search for my inhaler.
As i wave my phone above the forest floor i see a white, pale flesh. I sweep teh phone back and before my eyes is the top half of the missing girls body. I panic and lose my footing again. I tumble down into a ravine.
I stand back up and hear a low growl. I look ahead of me and see a wolflike figure growl at me several feet ahead of me. Before i have a chance to react, it pounces at me knocking me to the ground. I try to scramble away but the wolf pulls me back and bites down hard on my waist. Then it runs away.
"Owwwweeeeee!" I scream.
I get to my feet and run out the woods as fast as possible, onto the road where a speeding SUV skids and swerves but misses me.
Im breathing hard from fear and exertion. Whatever that was, it definitely werent a wolf. Normal wolves dont just attack you.
I lift up my hoodie to reveal a large bloody bite. Deep puncture wounds create a rough circle on the right side of my abdomen from just below the ribs to just abive my waistline.
Im confusef to as to how im not in cardiac arrest right now.
As i stand there panting in the road , a wolf howls and it begins to rain.
