It was when I was 11 years old- I started to realize how I felt for JB. It more than some mere crush, I know you're all thinking I'm too young. Seriously though, all I could think about was him. Day or night.
My sister kept insisting I tell him; because boyfriend and girlfriends were becoming a thing then to us.
One day over the summer, JB came over to play. We were all outside playing basketball. When I say we I mean sam and JB and I was awkwardly standing by the sidewalk.
What could I do? I couldn't play a sport at all; I am to accident prone.
Then my dear sister started trying to get me to tell him how I felt. Although I believe it was pretty obvious how I felt. I'm sadly an open book who wears her heart on her sleeve.
"Tell him! Come on Heather what harm can it do?" Sam said.
I rolled my eyes," No one could like me Sammi; and anyways I don't want to ruin our friendship."
"Come on! He likes you. I know he does," Sam said sure of herself.
I pondered for a moment. What if I told him? What if he like me back? Or liked someone else? I didn't want to get hurt. I was too shy anyways.
"Sam, not right now." I said defeated.
I saw a spark in my twins eyes and she smiled, a devious smile.
Weary of that look I returned to my spot on the sidewalk.
A couple hours passed and JBs Mom came over to visit with my mom. The sun was going to set soon but we were all still outside.
"Hey Heather why don't you play with us?" JB asked.
"No! Too clumsy remember?" I said nervously.
"Hey JB!" Sam said.
"Yeah?" He replied.
I walked over to them to see what Sam was going to say. I was scared.
"Either I or Heather has to tell you something," Sam said with a smirk.
I could hear my heart in my ears. How could Samantha do that?
JB stood confused; and looked straight at me.
"Come on Heather, tell him," She said to me.
I glared at her.
"JB...I-I like you," I said really fast.
JB say there for what felt like an eternity.
He took a breath, " I like a girl in Maryland"
I screamed internally, " Oh! Cool man! Well hey don't listen to me; I hope this doesn't change anything."
As soon as the words left my mouth I left. Went into the house crying. I couldn't look back. And this was my first taste of heart break.
