The next day, my parents were silent to me. They ignored my comments and didn't even bother to say good morning. It was a Saturday. I loved saturdays! My dad and I would go fishing or go to the movies.

"Dad, are we going fishing today?"

My dad didn't reply. He just moved his head side to side. Which meant no, obviously.

I left the room and went to my room. I wanted to text Beth but I was too afraid. What if she didn't reply? Or what if her parents have her phone! They would see the message I would send her.

I called my friend, Roberto. I asked if he wanted to hang out at the skate park. Roberto started mumbling then said

"Sure man! Come by my house around 12:00."

I got everything I needed, my skateboard and my helmet and my phone. I started walking down the sidewalk when I saw Beth. She was walking her dog, Cutie.

I smiled at her then waved. Beth turned to face me and waved but did not smile.

Just kept a straight face. I felt hurt inside, like she didn't even want to see my face. So I turned around and headed home.

I never noticed something. I never knew why my parents and her parents are enemies. So I needed to know.

I walked in through the door stomping my feet into the kitchen. My mom was cooking and my dad was sitting at the table reading a newspaper. I stopped to look at them. They both stared at me with disgust.

I yelled across the kitchen,

"You tell me why you and Beth's parents are enemies? Huh? Why are you guys so mad at eachother! Obviously you don't want me to date Beth because of something!!"

My mom looked at me surprised. Then said.

"Honey, we went to the inspection place yesterday night. They haven't told us who the person you were with was yet. But I guess we know now..."

I forgot that they don't know about who I was with!

"Mom, uh, can you just tell me the reason why you are fighting!!! I love Beth, now I need her back. Because of you and her parents I can't be happy."

My parents looked at eachother and said...
