Chapter 7
(Unedited)
Zaria's P.O.V.
I knocked on the silver door of the last house on a quiet street, it was a large white house with two stories of floor to ceiling reflective windows and a flat roof. James pulled his ear, like he was going to yank it off, a nervous habit of his and looked up the street, as though planning his escape.
"Would you calm down, your drowning me in your anxiety and I can't pick up anything else, like the emotions someone might feel if they were getting ready to attack us."
"Oh...sorry." James said straightening himself, and unbelievably, became even more nervous than before.
"James, I'm begging you calm down, everything's going to be okay, and you don't have to do anything, that's why we brought your colleague, Toman." I said jerking a finger at the duffel bag on the tiled porch by James' feet.
Tommy had unluckily walked past the Xteria while we were figuring out what we'd give Sagire, and been subdued by a tranquilizer shot, fired by yours truly, in his butt. We took off his clothes and dressed him up to Sagire's liking, then stuffed him into a nicely padded duffel bag.
"You're sure she'll be okay... that she'll be satisfied with him, and won't make one of us, you know...?" He shrugged while pulling his ear, yet again.
"Yeah he'll be enough...honey." I cringed.
The repulsive endearment had the desired effect on James and most of his nervousness was quickly replaced with love and joy, and it was so strong that I was bathing it in. But bathing isn't drowning, I thought with a shrug.
I extended my powers inside the house and felt a mixture of anticipation and lust coming from a vampire. Pressing my metaphysical powers further still, I felt no one else.
I took a step closer to the door and was about to press my ear against it when I heard, "I'm coming, no need to begin eavesdropping."
I backed away and quickly looked around the porch for hidden cameras, even though I knew Sagire didn't need them to know what I was doing, especially at such close range.
The normally white skin of James' face was filled with pink blotches and the ear he was tugging on had turned a deep red, making me lick my lips as I remembered the taste of the assistant yesterday. Then a tsunami of fear came from him and threw me against the wall.
I really loved James, we've been through a lot together the past two years, but sometimes he was more trouble than help, right now was definitely one of those times.
James unfortunately thought Sagire had thrown me away from her door and across the six foot porch with her mind, and his fear turned into rage, I don't know which once made my head hurt more. Then Sagire finally decided to open her door.
"James!!" I screamed, "it wasn't her!! Look at me, I'm fine. Look at me." I quickly got off my butt and was between James and the Indian woman in less than a second.
"Look at me," I begged and finally caught his large, black eyes. "Stop, she hasn't harmed me, just calm down and back up, okay?"
"Yes, Tsarina." He retreated two steps with his head bowed, and mind finally clear of fear and rage.
"So... how's it going Sagire?" I turned to face her.
