Chapter 8

(Unedited)

James P.O.V

A deep, loud growl erupted and Zaria whipped her head around to look past me, while I looked down, wondering how my stomach sounded like I swallowed a lion and still felt empty. Things like this sure could make a man depressed.

"Looks like I'm not the only one forgetting my meals." She said shaking her and holding back a smile. Then turned her head looking around as we stood on the black side-conveyor, returning to my Xteria, which was parked in the lot at the front of the street.

"We'll stop at your Aunts house for something to eat."

"Thank God," I said my mouth already beginning to water, as I rubbed my flat belly, already envisioning it full and round.

As I turned the final corner I noticed clouds of smoke, filling the sunny afternoon sky. The closer we got the more dread filled my mind and made me panic, the smoke seemed to be coming from Auntie Gakuna's house. I tapped my index finger on the touch screen, built into the dashboard for steering, five successive times, accelerating the hover-car to 120 miles per hour and raced down the straight road.

"If there are enforcers you'll have to pass her house, I'm not in a disguise and they can't see us together." Zaria said laying down on the carpeted floor in the back of the vehicle.

I pressed my thumb on the screen and the hover-car came to a suddem stop right in front of my Aunt's house. As I took in the scene tears flowed as freely from my eyes, as rage filled my heart.

There were dozens of enforcers roughly pulling my mother's sister and her family from the house and shoving them onto the lawn. They looked as though they were taken from their afternoon meal because my aunt still had on her apron and her ten year old twin daughter, Miyah, fought to balance the new born infant, with a bib around his neck, in her hands as she was pushed to the ground with a gun digging into her back.

"James," Zaria called from the back seat," James, please start the car, we have to go."

"I can't just leave them here Zaria, that's my family."

A enforcer with several strips of red on his left arm, showing just how high he was in the hierarchy, began talking, but I couldn't hear so I turned to Zaria.

"He's saying that they are to be punished for..." She hesitated for a couple seconds, before continuing. " they are to be punished for conspiring to overthrow the Potentate, with my Uncle Dhon, and me."

The enforcer paused in his speech and bent down to clasp my Aunt's chubby chin, bringing her face up to look at him he continued speaking.

"Where is your pathetic rebellion's leader?!"

She shook her head and spat in face, he immediately recoiled, tripped on a lawn decoration, and landed with a satisfying splash in a wet patch of mud.

"Your Aunt told him that she doesn't know, his breath just killed the brain cells that that information was stored in."

He quickly righted himself and boxed her across her face.

"Take her and put her in the Torque Chamber...ohh crap!!" Zaria exclaimed almost sitting up, "James there a too many of them, we'll just have to try to rescue her, we can't try anything here. We have to go."

"He's talking again, what's he saying Zaria?!" I demanded.

"But before you go, I've something for you."

The enforcer began to unbuckle his pants, not caring that he was out in the open. His lips curled upwards and he bared his teeth in  cruel smile at Aunt Gakuna, as he walked towards her daughter, Mehya the other twin. He grabbed the slim girl and dragged her to the side of the house.

Aunt Gakuna got off her knees and with her hands handcuffed behind her back, she tried to run after them but was quickly tackled by two enforcers. She was crying and screaming so loud that even James could hear her from inside of the vehicle, and it was too much. This wasn't right, I have to stop him.

One of the enforcers took the safety off his gun and aimed it at her. I moved to shove the hover-car door open.
