 Chapter 1

They say when someone you love gets hurt, you automatically come to know. They don’t provide you the reason but they say that it happens. However, I didn’t feel anything, no signs, no clues, no warnings. But he was hurt. He was there, lying on the hospital bed, unconscious. Oblivious to the world.

I am happy the accident was not serious and his injuries were not severe, some minor bruises though. The doctor said he’ll be fine in a few weeks. I wish he gets well soon…

Do I still love him? I don’t know. It’s been 6 years. But there’s no time to find out. I have to leave.

It’s funny they called me. The nurse said they tried some other contacts but no one responded. But I never thought he would still have my number saved. I guess I did mean something…

John stood at the door. Just staring at him. Neither of them moved. It was hours before John moved. His cell was ringing.

“Yes dad…coming…in the hospital…no I’m fine…I’ll be there in 15 minutes…yes my stuff is packed…yes I’ve the tickets in my bag…see you soon.”

I guess I have to leave. College…who would’ve thought that I would meet him again like this and would’ve to leave without even ensuring that he is ok. I guess that’s life. Anyways I’m his past now… Who am I kidding? (He sighed) I was never a part of his life, never. Wanted to be, but never could. Time to go Johnathan Smith. You promised your dad that you would move on.

He turned to leave. He was in the corridor when he heard a faint, really faint sound. He couldn’t make out clearly but he felt someone called out to him.

“John…”

He turned towards the room. Kevin was still asleep.

Must be me. Silly me. (He smiled) I guess we never lose hope…

He left the hospital.

“John, is that you?” Kevin slowly opened his eyes. He looked around but saw no one. He again went back to sleep.

Chapter 2

“Dad?” John called on entering his house.

“In here”, he heard his dad’s voice coming from his room.

“What are you doing?” John asked. He felt stupid asking the question. His dad was finishing his packing for him.

“The question is where have you been?” Jeffrey had stopped packing.

“Dad, you don’t look like you have a 21 year old son!”

Jeffrey frowned. “That’s not gonna work”

John smiled. Then the smile vanished…

“What were you doing at the hospital John?”

“Kevin was there.”

“Kevin? You mean the Kevin Lomax?” He was furious.

“Yes. He was hurt.”

“Oh! great! Why couldn’t he be dead?”

“Dad! Don’t say that”

“Why shouldn’t I? You might still be in love with him Johnny, but I still haven’t forgiven him”

“There’s no question of forgiving him, dad. He didn’t love me”

“Exactly! And my son’s a fool who still loves him. It’s been six years kid. This has to stop”
