It was a normal day. Waves were bobbing against the rocks and clouds dotted around the pale blue sky. A soft breeze stroked the nearby cliff where Persephone sat, reading peacefully.

"And there was never a story more woe than Juliet and her Romeo..." I'd always loved story's of romance. They never failed to amaze me. I'd often ask myself, how could two people have such a close bond. Perhaps I would never know. I got up and placed my book in the pocket of my pale blue dress; protecting my favourite book.

As I breathed in, I could feel the salty sea air tingling my nostrils. I braced myself before diving head-first into the waves below.

"PERSEPHONE!!!" I could hear my father's shouts from a mile away and for some unknown reason, swam towards him. I could see him faintly, his eyebrows knotted in anger. As I got closer to the castle behind him, he grabbed both if my arms and pulled me close to his face. "WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT GOING TO THAT CLIFF!!"
I could feel his breath stinging my face as he screamed at me. "Listen dad, I'm not a little kid anymore OK? I want to explore England! Not just the ocean and the cliffs!"

"YOU SHALL NEVER SEE ANYONE EXCEPT ME, YOUR MOTHER AND OUR PEOPLE!"

I could feel tears swelling in my eyes. I pushed away from him. "Fine...then I shall leave. If I can't journey to the human world with you or mother, then I shall go alone."

I swam up to my room and gathered my clothes, my dolphin pendant, and another book. I placed them all In my suitcase except for my dolphin pendent, which I placed around my neck. I swam from the castle and to the cliff, giving me a chance to see the ocean one last time. I took a deep breath, and walked away.
