A few weeks later, Sharna was facetiming Peta, who now lives in New York with Maks. "How do I look?"
She was dressed in a beautiful white knee-length dress, her hair curled to perfection.
"You look amazing." Her best friend replied. "Stop worrying. He is already madly in love with you. You don't have to impress him."
She started to pace. "I know but this is our first actual date. I don't want to mess this up. Jace and Mia are already so attached to him."
"How do you feel about him?" Peta asked.
Sharna stopped pacing. "I really like him."
"Then you have nothing to worry about." She assured. "I have to go make dinner. Maks will be home soon. Have a good date. Send the kids my love."
"Will do. Bye." She put away her tablet.
Looking in the mirror one last time, Sharna gave herself a nervous smile before grabbing her clutch.
Entering the kids' room, she found Jace playing with his toy truck on the floor next to Mia's crib. "Hey, Jitterbug. You ready to go? Artem and Harper will be here any minute."
"Yup!" He smiled before putting away his toys.
Sharna lifted Mia out of her crib, and she grabbed their overnight bags. As they walked out into the living room, the doorbell rang. Since Sharna's hands were full, Jace raced towards the door pulling it open to reveal Artem.
"Hey, buddy. You ready?" Artem asked, bending down to Jace's height.
He nodded.
"Good. Where's your mommy?" He continued.
"Right here." Sharna said, walking towards them.
Artem immediately moved to help her with the bags. As he lifted the bags, he kissed both Mia and Sharna on their foreheads. "You look beautiful."
"Thanks." She blushed. "You don't look too bad yourself."
He wore a simple black dress shirt with some dark gray slacks.
Everyone went out the door, eager to get going.
"Is Harper in the car? She asked, as they walked to the car.
"Yeah." He replied.
Once they packed all of the bags and put all of the kids into their car seats, they left for Artem's friend's house, so they could drop off the kids.
When they arrived, Artem's friend, Henry, was already waiting outside for them.
"Hey, man." Artem greeting Henry, as he stepped out of the car.
"Long time, no see." He replied, pulling him in for a hug. "So where is this girl I always hear you talking about?"
"Getting the kids ready." He pointed towards the car, where Sharna was getting Mia.
Suddenly, Harper came running to the two men. "Uncle Henry!"
Henry bent down to catch the small girl, who was barreling towards him. He lifted her up into the air, kissing her on the cheek, before letting her rest on his hip. As Henry hugged Harper, Sharna and Jace walked up to Artem, Jace hiding behind his leg.Henry looked back at Artem noticing them.
He held out his hand to Sharna. "Hi. I'm Henry."
"Sharna." She replied, shaking his hand. "And this is Mia and Jace."
