8. Shadows in the dark.

Well of course. Harry was the best lawyer in town. Demi looked up at him and her eyes shone with hopefulness. "They'll let you go in any minute from now" Harry spoke with a reassuring smile. He also smiled at me and I returned it. The officer came by with a bunch of dangling keys. "I'll see ya around eh?" Harry waved and walked away. The officer unlocked the door lock and Demi immediately walked out and hugged me. The officer gasped "Young love" and walked away. I hugged her back. We walked up to the station's office. Another officer spoke "Sir could you please sign here?" he pointed at few sheets of paper. I nodded. "Sir, from now onwards you'll be considered her guardian because she has no family" the officer spoke further. "No Niall. I'm quite of a troublemaker and I don't want to create any further problems in your life. I suggest you not to sign them. I'll ask Harry" Demi said.

"No" was all I said. I signed the papers and smiled at Demi "It's worth it".

We held hands and walked away to my car. I opened the door for her and she smiled. I got to the driver's seat. "Niall I think it's best you drop me home" she said with a poker face. I nodded. We drove in silence. "I'm sorry" she said softly.

"Oh c'mon. It's nothing" I caressed her cheek. She gave me directions to her house. "You don't have to. I know where you live" I chuckled slightly.

"Quite of a stalker aren't you?" she giggled. I gave her a toothy grin. I dropped her home. I walked her up to her door. She unlocked the door. I turned onto my heel to head back but was stopped by Demi "Stay the night". The look on her face, I couldn't defy her. "I don't have my clothes" I spoke.

"Then get them. I'll be done making dinner till then".

I sighed. I smiled. "I'll get them then. I'll be back". I turned my back and was once again stopped by her. But this time she spun me around and attacked my lips. I was shocked but delighted. Her soft, full and supple lips on mine. They moved in sinc. She abruptly pulled back "be back soon" and with that she shut the door. I couldn't help but blush crazy and scratched the back of my head. God, this girl can make me beg on my knees. I rushed to my car. It took me 15 minutes to reach my apartment. I rushed to my room. Grabbed a backpack from the drawer, shoved some boxers and few t-shirts and sweat pants. I locked my room and rushed to my car. "See you later" I smiled at the receptionist. She smiled back and waved. I drove back, listening to the radio. I reached soon enough. I pressed the calling bell and almost instantly the door opened. "Wow that was quick" she smiled. "I'm a guy what do you expect?" I said slightly pouting. She playfully hit my arm "Your being a distraction. Stop being so cute and hot at the same time".

"Speak for yourself" I winked. I changed and walked to the dining hall. It was a mansion. Too big for a single person. Especially too big for a girl. The

decor and the furniture were so posh and every single thing had a touch of glamour. "Nice house but it's too big for a single person" I pointed out. She nodded "it belongs to my parents. I'm the only alive heir to the property so I had to keep it. I'm not selling it any soon either, staying here makes me feel like my parents are with me". I smiled she handed me a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. We ate in silance. I had to admit she was a good cook too which was a bonus for me. After the main course we ate ice cream. We walked up through the long grand carpeted staircase to her room. It was enormous. There were many pictures of her family hung around the walls. I was impressed by her sense of decor designing. Demi was on her bed "Mind joining in?" she asked patting the empty space beside her. I grinned like an idiot. I was walking up to her bed when suddenly the lights went off. "I think it's a power cut" she spoke. I heard a loud thud and a gagging sound. "Demi you okey?" I asked. I stumbled forward trying to find her. There was no sound and suddenly another thud. "Demi stop fooling around" I said. This time there was sounds of continuous thuds. It sounded like two people were fighting. I could hear punches being thrown and kicks. Lot's of hitting. "Get off me" I could make out it was Demi's voice. "Can't do" spoke an unfamiliar female. Suddenly someone gagged me with their hand. I could feel the person was well built in stature and taller than me. I struggled and threw a swift punch at the eye of the person. He fell back. I stumbled around and found a switch board. I put on the lights. Demi was being held by a blonde and there was tall guy near the window. They wore fully black and their faces were covered only their eyes could be seen. They quickly left through the window. They were too fast to be caught. Demi stood up and rushed to my side, hugging me "Are you okey babe?" she asked. "I should be asking you that" I replied.

"It's too late. They found out about you. They took everything I had. Now they are coming after you" her eyes got watery.

"They literally were like shadows in the dark. They disappeared in the light. Are they even human" I asked. It wad a very unusual encounter.

"That was Johnson Zharr and Winston Zharr's son and daughter. They are coming after you Niall. They took away my family. I can't lose you. I'll kill them I swear" she spoke. Her eyes dilating vigorously into a very lighter shade. This night is just not how I planned it would go. The shadows in the dark will be following.
