*Rin*
Papers were scattered everywhere. Rubbing her eyes irately, Rin began to gather them up. Mrs. Saru walked into her office and gave a little yelp upon seeing the mess.

“I forgot to close the window again, didn’t I?” She sighed. Rin simply rolled her eyes to herself, and continued to tidy the office room.

Mrs. Saru was a very kind and motherly woman, but she was also the most forgetful person that Rin had ever known.

Standing up, she put the papers on her boss’s desk with a forgiving air. “It’s okay Mrs. Saru, accidents happen. Cleaning up and helping is what I’m paid to do!” Rin said optimistically.

Saying something about how kind her employee was, Sakura Saru sat down at her desk and began to sort through the miscellaneous paperwork.

"I think this weeks edition of My District was quite a success! What about you Rin dear?”

“I’m afraid I never read the final edit, only the rough drafts of a couple of the articles.” Mrs. Saru smiled sweetly and went back to sorting the work. Rin knew exactly what was coming, and  prepared herself.

“So, Rin,” She started. “Mm?” was the reply. The maternal woman cleared her throat and slyly pressed the question.

“Have you met anyone dear? It’s been quite some time you know.” She tapered off and gazed kindly at her assistant, who was paying a little too much attention to the papers she was sorting.

An awkward silence ensued while Rin fuddled with the paper in her hand. An image of Shizuo leaning down to ask her that random question flashed through her mind. She shook her head quickly and mentally berated herself.

“I'm afraid not Mrs. Saru, perhaps I'm destined to die a lonely old maid” she said with a laugh. "Don't say that dear, you might start to believe it." Mrs Saru said with a slight frown.

*Shizuo*
“You can’t make me”, the man yelled hoarsely. Tawargi sighed and mumbled “We’ll see about that, have at it Shizuo.” Shizuo cracked his knuckles threateningly, threw his cigarette to the ground, then sighed frustratingly. “Wrong choice pal, you should’ve listened when you had the chance.” Tawagari just rolled his eyes as Shizuo “applied his methods’’. The whole situation quickly came to an end when the man, sobbing, handed over the money and apologized.

“Wimp” Shizuo muttered as he walked away. Tanaki just chuckled. “Well, that’s it Mr. Heiwajima. We don’t have anyone else to collect from so we might as well just call it a day.”
They walked on in silence for a moment before Tanaki cleared his throat and pressed the question that had been on his mind. “So, uh Shizuo, have you met anyone recently? You know, someone with pretty eyes, a nice feminine figure, or anything like that?”

Silence was the only thing he was receiving. Of course he didn’t know what was going through Shizuo’s head as he was talking. An image of Rin laughing, and telling him she wasn’t scared of him with that glint in her eye had passed through his mind, but he dismissed it with an exasperated attitude. Finally he spoke up.

“Listen Tawagari let’s just face it. All the women I’ve met who found out who I am were either too scared to be with me, or they just want the label that comes with it. I’m not interested in that. I’m better off alone without having to look after someone like that.”

Tawagari listened with a light grin, happy that he had gotten an answer at all. “Not every girl is like that. You’ll find her Shizuo, you’ll find her, and don’t lie to me. We both know that if you find someone worth protecting, you’ll do it to the very end.”

•° (A/N) Hello readers! I hope you enjoy this story. I'm so absolutely horridly inconsistent when it comes to writing especially in this story. *Guilty grin* I plan on continuing the story until it's conclusion though even if it takes me ten years! °•
