I dreamed of waves lapping a shore playfully, sparkling along the clean white sand like pieces of mirrors. Shades of blue-green were dark on the horizon line, fading in to a crystal light turquoise on the shore. The sky was clear and sunny. I walked to the water and let it run over my feet, but my feet didn't wet. A little ways out splashed a young girl of 12 or 13. Her hair was waves of flame on contrast with the tropical waters.I knew this girl, because I was her, from so many years before. I had almost forgotten this trip with my family.
I watched as she dove under searching for shells and sea life; around her feet she attracted a group of small silver fish that had been entertaining her for quite some time. As they nibbled at her, she asked them, "are you wondering why I have toes, too?". She attempted to grab one but it easily evaded her and continued after her heels. A muffled call behind me beckoned her to the shore and she dove under one last time before heading towards land; then the dream faded away.
