With the quests to [Use Magic for the First Time] and [Hunt Three Beasts in Beginner Field] finished, I was free to leave. When a 2-dimensional square appeared in front of me asking if I wanted to leave the beginner training area I quickly accepted and found myself back in the crowd in front of the NPC. The NPC shoved three low level MP potions at me and turned to the next player without a word. I stared at the potions helplessly. Would I have to just carry these around?
"New here, huh?"
The one who spoke was a young boy with big eyes who was absolutely swamped by the floor length robe he was wearing. He was standing next to a man who was at least 6â€4’ and had the shoulders (and weapon) of a smith. The larger man was just as comical in his skintight white shirt and ragged pants. Even his feet were bare, though the giant hammer held over his shoulder in one hand made it hard to laugh at him openly. The difference between the two was also rather comical, actually.
"Try saying 'Inventory'"
"Inventory?"
Question or not, this seemed to fulfill the requirements. Another 2-dimensional square appeared in front of me. This one was larger and subdivided into 60 smaller boxes. I shoved the Mana potions at the box and they went into a couple of the small boxes next to the disappeared mob drops from earlier. I had been wondering where those went. No stacking though. How frustrating.
"Is there a way to stack them?"
"Just put them in one by one instead of trying to throw them in all together, well, there's a stacking limit of 60 though."
I removed the MP potions and added it back in so it stacked with the other. Having objects occupy the same inventory slot with just a number to tell how many there were was a vital part of fantasy games. How else would you keep track of how many potions you had left? While I was at it, I added the {Unknown Herbs} which had, until now, just been tucked into my belt loop.
"Is there a way to get more inventory space?"
"Yeah, we're actually on our way to the quest. You can come with us. A merchant offers to make {Infinite Inventories} for us, but you have to get {Boar Hide} from the Wild Forest for him to make it. And then you have to pay him in addition. Plus, it's not even really infinite."
It was worth it though.
"It's not infinite?"
"No. At least not according to the guides I read. It has 1000 item slots though. Really useful when combined with the stacking system. The guides also said it allows you to organize the thing by type, use, time of adding, or even a made up system of your own."
His voice was higher than his face would lead me to believe it should be. He had to be at least 14, though a short 14, and yet his voice was still cracking every few syllables. How unfortunate.
"My name is Talbot by the way. Wanna be friends?"
I nearly lost my footing at the unexpected question, but as I looked at him staring straight ahead, I realized that it was more important than he let on. His large friend didn't seem surprised by the question, but then, he didn't seem completely comfortable around Talbot. Occasionally he would nearly trip moving out of Talbot's way. Probably the larger guy hadn't spent much more time around Talbot than I had.
"What's the friend system like here?"
"Well, it's not necessary, but if you have a friend in your list you can send them messages. Also, you can form parties without being in a safe zone as long as everyone in the party are friends, and you can send gifts to friends. I haven't heard about any negatives yet besides a friends list becoming too crowded or what happens if you friend a secret PKer. It lists your approximate location on your friends list."
