Halloween~
"Now make a low swish with your wand," Professor Flitwich says as he demonstrates. "And flick down. A swish, and flick."
Everyone in class starts to repeat the same actions with their wand. I sat next to Hermione with Ron at her right and Mae at my left.
"Now say this after me. Wingardium leviosa," he continues slowly.
"Wingardium leviosa."
"Very good! Now, chant the spell and focus on the feather in front of you," he instructs. "The spell is supposed to make the feather float."
I clear my throat before raising my wand, remembering the swish and flick. "Wingardium leviosa."
Suddenly, the feather began to take flight. I raised my wand point higher and the feather followed.
"Yes! Ms. Reyes did it!" Professor Flitwich suddenly draws all the attention towards me. I almost lose my focus but regain it back before the feather flew away in an open window nearby.
When the class ends I try to meet up with Hermione. Right as Professor Flitwich dismissed us she bolted out the door.
I gather my things quickly and try to run over her as quick as I could. I see her running into the girl's bathroom, almost tripping on some pop-out bats.
The professors really do go all out when placing decorations.
I set my stuff on the bench inside the bathroom and see Hermione huddled in a stall, curled up like a ball.
"Hermione..." I slowly begin to walk towards her.
She immediately wipes her tears away when she sees me. "Uh, Evelyn. What're you doing here?"
"I came to see why you were in such a rush to get out of class. That's really unlike you," I stop walking. "What happened?"
"Earlier," she starts to sniffle. "W-well, it's j-just about R-Ron."
I rack my memories to see if I remembered anything about Ron making Hermione cry. Oh yeah, he said that she was a nerd and no wonder why she had no friends...
That really does affect a girl's self-esteem.
"If he said anything, I'm sure he didn't mean it," I say.
"How do you know?" she wipes some more tears away. "I think I just need alone time."
"Okay. I can bring you some dessert from the Halloween feast if you want."
"Yes. Pumpkin pie and some chocolate frogs please," Hermione sniffles with a small smile on her face.
I return her smile and pick up my things before making my way back to my dormitories. I set my things down and fix my hair before finding Mae and Sinna and joining them to our walk to the Main Hall.
"I honestly don't know why people make fun of Professor Flitwich because of his size," Mae shakes her head. "I don't think his height affects him in the least."
Sinna and I shrug it response.
"But it can be hard to see him if you're in the back row," I say.
"And it can be distracting, as well," Sinna adds.
"Well, besides that."
"I don't know what else to say," Sinna shrugs again as we step into the Main Hall.
I find some seats next to each other so we could all sit together. Professor Dumbledore says a speech on updating our house statuses and stuff. Ravenclaw was in first place, then Slytherin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
I try my best to sneak a packaged slice of pie and some chocolate frogs into my robe pockets. I luckily didn't seem suspicious.
All of a sudden, the Main Hall doors burst open, revealing a flailing and out of breath Professor Quirrel.
"Troll!" he yells. "Troll in the dungeon!"
Then he faints and falls onto the ground.
The students begin to wail and start running every direction. I almost fall onto the ground since I got pushed by three people.
"Silence!" the hall suddenly quiets down.
I look up to see Professor Dumbledore standing up at the speech podium again.
"Each house prefix, escort the rest to their dormitories," he says.
Percy Weasley, the Gryffindor prefix motions for us to follow him. Since Sinna, Mae and I were in different houses I had to say good bye to them.
With all the students huddled in a line, it was easy for me to slip away and briskly walk or jog to the girl's bathroom.
I needed to warn Hermione.
I see a giant green wart with legs, arms and a head in front of me. My eyes widen when I see that it was a full grown mountain troll!
"Uh...how did they defeat it again?" I whisper to myself.
"Evelyn? What're you doing here?!" I look back to see Ron and Harry.
"We heard that Hermione was in here all day. Have you seen her?" Harry asks. "We need to..." his voice trails off when he sees the troll behind me.
Suddenly the troll sees us. He raises his giant bat weapon and swings at us. I quickly duck and run as fast as I can towards Hermione behind him.
"Are you okay?!"
"No! Look behind you!" she points behind me with a fearful look on her face.
Before I know it, I feel something bumpy and rough wrap around me. I gasp when I see the troll's wide ugly eyes bore into my own.
I look down to see Hermione cowering underneath a sink and that I was above the ground. I cover my mouth, hoping I wouldn't scream.
The troll starts to move around, making my head dizzy. I barely saw anything else before the troll's bat suddenly floated over his head and fell, knocking him out.
I land on the cold floor and hiss in pain. I couldn't feel my legs and my stomach hurt a lot since I was being held onto tightly.
Just then some professors came in.
Professor McGonagall orders the student next to her to help me make my way to the Hospital Wing.
Hermione helps me stand up and I lean onto the wall for support.
Professor McGonagall ushers the student inside. It was...Draco. I sigh in exasperation.
I try to limp on my own but Professor McGonagall insisted I have Malfoy support me. I almost puked in disgust.
Yeah, like he would ever help me.
Turns out he had it since this was punishment for him. I had to have my left arm slung around his shoulder and he awkwardly held onto my stomach.
The way to the Hospital Wing couldn't be more awkward.
When we finally reach there, Madame Pomfrey sets me on a bed and thanks Draco before dismissing him.
He stutters a little before walking out.
I guess we both just got scarred for life.
